why is it so damn complicated to get your drivers license in ohio. 1st you have to pay $22 to get a damn temp packet then wait in line to take your driving test then ohio has a law where you have to have insurance. it sucks here.

insurance is mandatory in all 50 states.but in ohio they just ask u to sign a paper stating if u drive you do it with insurance.it is not a reqiurement to physically get your license

not entirely related to the question, but has good insight:
i got pulled over by the OSP last year. The trooper asked for my insurance card for my car, but they are not required in my state. You have some strange requirements in Ohio. However, I still like ohio a lot.

Luckily the trooper gave me a written warning. I would have had a terribly large fine, and possible summons.

Move here to SD. they give you a licence without insurance and will also register your car without insurance they ask no questions at all no proof of anything is required. It took me less than 4 min. to do both my car paperwork and get my licence! it was a breze

You've got it easy comparatively speaking.
