Jesus was jewish. If you believe his flesh is not of mary he is still jewish as there is such a thing as a proselyte_someone who converts/joins jews in the following of the torah etc. Jesus did this so he was/is a jew. Christianity is not distinct from judaism. It is the exact thing, because if you believe jesus is the christ then he is the fullfillment(/continuation/completion) of the law, Gods commandments, instructions etc. So if you believe that Jesus is the Christ you must also believe those 'jews' who reject him as the messiah are apostate and like those in times past ( which you can read in the history books of the OT) which is agrees with what jesus said ( he said how jerusalem woudl be destroyed because the didn't recognize his coming). So a christian is a proselyte jew(/israelite) and the so called jews (by blood or current religion under the name) are rebellious disobedient jews (anyway they don't follow teh same religious things exactly as they did in jesus' day or any before him but again have changed things to suit themselves somewhat as again in the OT history books it describes they did then). Also if you take the original meaning of the word christian as mentioned in a previous answer then no jesus was not a christian. If christian means that you believe jesus is the Christ then he is as he believes he is the Christ obviously!. A jew according to teh bible is a member of those commited to yahwehs commandments and instructions. Bloodline is invalid if one rebels against such(this is made clear througout the OT and by both john the baptist & jesus in the NT). BUT to summarize Jesus more accurately was a jew. As all christians are(including myself) by adoption.

Jesus is the Christ, the anointed one, the Messiah.
Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Christian is disciple of Christ.
Acts 11:25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Jesus told his disciples to preach the gospel to the whole world. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Yes Jesus was the original Christ, or anointed one that followed the will of his father. How many times must it be said Jesus was not a Jew, the Bible does teach Jesus was NOT a JEW. Here is the proof; First at his birth it says He was not the son of Joseph, but of God;
LUKE 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed ) the son of Joseph,
So understand it says supposed ???
MATTHEW 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Most Christians would know or understand the Holy Ghost is not Jewish.
If Jesus's flesh of Mary his body would not have been a perfect sacrifice of God. Mary conceived this child as a product of faith and not after the flesh.
Jesus Christ is said to be the first born of many brothers and the Bible does teach you are not a Jew or a Greek(another name for gentile) in Jesus;GALATIANS 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
COLOSSIANS 3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.
JESUS WAS NOT A JEW, AND JESUS DID FOLLOW THE ANOINTING that was upon him.
This is what a Christian means;5546 Christianos {khris-tee-an-os'} from 5547; TDNT -- 9:483,1322; n pr m
AV -- Christian (3)
1) Christian, a follower of Christ
ACTS 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Paul did not start or invent the word Christian
to teach false doctrine will bring a curse upon you, so plz preach the Bible not your own ideas; GALATIANS 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
GALATIANS 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Christian was first ascribed to the followers of Jesus, the Christ, in the church at Antioch as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 11 verses 26 &27.

The word Christian means to be a follower of Christ. Jesus needn't have been a Christian, he was Christ himself. Of course that also means that he set the principles us Christians are trying follow today and was the only one who could fully applied them in his own life.
And he was risen, believe it or not! The people who are so certain of themselves may get surprises one day...

Christ was not a Christian. He was a Jewish reformer. Paul created the name Christian, which meant 'follower of Christ'.

Since he was instrumental in every part of the New Testament, and that he taught us our EVERYTHING, I would have to say that Jesus was a Christian, the first one. HE LIVED what he preached. He told the apostles:
This is my commandment, That you love one another, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU. -John 15:12
Every bit of the New Testament was written by someone who was a witnness to him and his life. Only Paul was commanded by the Holy Ghost to Go to Rome to plead for him in front of Caesar.
But Paul had Peter who was a witness.
People are also deluded as to what a Christian is. A Christian is not a follower of Christ, we are of Christ. Jesus could hardly not be of himself, he was the 'word'.

In my opinion, Christ came first. Christians are followers of his lessons. How could he have been a Christian? He was just being himself.

The word "Christian" originated in Antioch after Jesus Christ's death, and it literally means "little christs" so no, Jesus would not be this.
Jesus is God, why do you seek to label Him?
I doubt He cares what we label ourselves, it is our heart and the disposition of our souls that He cares about. People can label themselves all day long, it doesn't make them what they have labeled themselves as. I can call myself a bird and jump off a building, that doesn't mean I'm going to fly.
It's a word, it's trivial, it matters not. What does matter is Jesus.
