That means that is a very dificult thing to your boyfriend to get married, maybe he talks about it to his friends and says that he doesn't want to get married, at least not by now, and thats why they were laughing.

i would just say it was bravado i wouldn't take it to seriously men aren't always good at talking about that sort of stuff to each other they where prob just messing about hope this helps
