Gumbet is a resort built for Brits, it in no way reflects the real Turkish way of life,it is filled with all night bars and restaurants selling English food.If this is what your after great. If you want a real glimpse of Turkey there are numerous other resorts in the south west of Turkey.I live near Gumbet and the few occasions I have been there I feel I need a visa to enter as it is like leaving Turkey going into littleEngland.a

hi ya
i have been five times with my family before and my parents and older sisters and husbands go. We stayed in La Maison Apartments right in the centre of town, reasonable priced for location and very clean, maid service 4 times a week etc and great atmosphere. It caters for both families and younger people. i would recommend gumbet but i would say any females that go beware of the Turkish men, they are lefal, i mean they are proposing marriage within a week lol Its a lovely place to go just don't be put off by the men as the weather, surroundings, atmosphere and people make Gumbet a great holiday.
Whatever you decide hope you enjoy yourself!

Stayed there and had good holiday but not my favourite Turkish place-too British and food too British in many restaurants. Bodrum is lovely to visit and is also a good walk if you are energetic. Try Altinkum or the old town of Side.
The sea is not very clean at Gumbet.

i have stayed in gumbet twice and found it really nice.Although it is much smaller than other resorts there are plenty of bars restaurant etc to enjoy and the best bit is you are only a short taxi/dolmus(mini bus) ride away from the resort of Bodrum. The beach at Gumbet is fab especially for kids as its safe and calm, hope you enjoy.
