It looks really fun, and smart. The visual interface is really cool. I haven't bought one yet, as it is too expensive, and since there is likely to be updated versions soon. I'll wait till then. Has anyone got it? What do you think? Problems, advantages, disadvantages...etc.

PC Rules. M*c sucks. LOL. YEAH.

I have tried the Beta Version and the Vista Ultimate of the Windows Vista. My comments for that OS is it has a Sleek and sexy design and is good looking and smart. It has a great finishing for its effects and graphics. It has a sidebar with ready options.
But the disadvantages are, it does not allow to run an 3rd Party anti - virus and you cant rely on Microsoft Security Tools, Its toooo much expensive and a middle class family cant afford it (the version with the least feautures starts from Rs22,000 ) . You need atleast 80 GB ( 20 GB for Windows Vista ), 1 GB RAM, 2.0 GHz Computer to have the best perfomance of Windows Vista ( too much expensive PC set ) , No pirated softwares can be run on the PC.

Overall the outlook on Vista is good. Much like the hype that once surrounded XP, Vista is on pace to take over in the same fashion as its predecessor. The only thing is that it will happen slowly and definitely not overnight. Although Vista has some important updates including security, most are in the form of "eye candy" special effects. Also, it is very demanding on the hardware. Don't try to run it on a older PC (more than 2-3 years old). So you will find that many people only recommend upgrading when buying your next PC.

Personally, I think it's great. The look and feel is revolutionary. Some of the features have been in the newest Mac OS for a while now, but there are many more that you can't find anywhere else! Heck yeah, Mac users chew on this!

Since the responses see WAY off balanced ill give you the real deal. Its bad. Vista's improved security/interface/DRM comes at the cost of your computer performance, a very heavy cost. But more on the DRM, its highly embedded and restrictive. If have the right to deny you from running a program remotely, as well as checking to make sure your copy is legit, and if its not remotely terminating it. Which is important to know since a estimated 1% (or 5 million) legit copies of XP currently fail the windows genuine validation.

And for conspiracy nuts, it was co-developed with the US's CIA, im guessing to make it as easy as wiretapping to gain access to someones PC.

Vista, and Microsoft's next OS codenamed Fiji will suck because they are all built on the same foundation. Which is needless to say highly inefficient . But there is hope, coming sometime between 2009-2012 Microsoft will launch Windows Vienna, the first completely new OS from the ground up from MS.

But I suppose I've now gone off topic.

I bought one. The visual performance is cool. But i have a suggestion if you want to buy a Vista XP and if you are going to install to an older type of PC, better not to install it. Although it will run in (Pentium III 500 Mhz, 733 MHz) but the performance of the PC makes slower. It's better to use this OS and meet the necessarry pc requirement. There is a Vista 32-bit type, better to use this at (CORE DUO/DUAL CORE PROCESSOR with 1-2GB DDR + 80 GB HD). There is a Vista 64-bit, better to use this at (CORE 2 DUO with 2 GB DDR + 120 GB HD).

Vista is very demanding. Although my pc meets the requirements I'm afraid some of the hardware I have (printer, scanner, camera) won't run properly because there are no drivers yet.
