It is for the FA's to sit in when in turbulence (moderate to severe) or in the event of ditching.

This stupid poxy airline who dont give a monkey who they upset as long as that moron oleary gets his money. I am not offending the Irish but he is as who the hell would reserve seats for disabled passengers that was as tight as a ducks behind to get into. I flew with them 3 years ago and never again as the service was disgusting no care at all, I am dfisabled and instead of sitting on a seat away from emergency exit they forced me to sqeeze in between two tight rows, and old disabled lady who could hardly even stand up was told to get off the seat I tried to sit on and was made to struggle all the way to t6he rear of the tin pot plane, she got no help from staff nor did staff ask someone if they would kindly move and let the old lady sit nearer to where she entered olearys toy. I am waiting for the day that oleary gets his comuppance, his tinpot company goes bust and a plane with him and his rude staff crash into a mountain, Easy Jet are a dam good company, dont beleive what you see on TV, I was treated with upmost respect from the second I arrived at the check in untill I left the front doors at Glasgow airport. What u see about EasyJet on TV is the TV company who Edit the show for their ratings. As long as you do as they ask nothing will go wrong, its people that are too lazy to read the printed ticket, leave things to last minute, snooty gits who fly on a low frill airline expecting first class service. To give u these next to nothng fares they HAVE TO CLOSE THE CHECK IN DESK WHEN THEY SAY THATS WHY YOU GET CHEAP FARES, THE PLANE HAS A VERY SHORT TURNAROUND TIME, if the planes are on the ground they loose money they have to be flying to make money otherwise its goodbye to cheap fares. hank u Easy Jet for a wonderful first experience, and u oleary u can shove ur toys right up where the sun dont shine, ur day will come because of the way you treat and have on tv run down disabled people. I pray to god that u get struck down with a life threatening illness that I and many others have, and I cannot wait untill I see all ur toys sitting one by one, side by side rusting away in the californian deserts, I just cant wait nor can others, its pay back time oleary.

the seats not being reserved by number they have to fill the plane in a way that all the weight is equally positioned in the plane for security reasons. they first fill the centre part of the plane and if necessary spread frontwards and backwards in the few rows kept empty when boarding

Some seats are saved specifically for unaccompanied minors, those who are physically disabled or who need extra leg room. As some others have said, when placing passengers in the aircraft, it's important that they're spread out equally so the weight of the plane is even.

I flew Ryan Air, I am trying to remember if it was the same on my flight, I'm sure I remembered seeing signs telling us not to sit in those rows, I just presumed they were reserved, sorry I'm not sure why this is.

It's a custom that goes back to biblical times, the book of genisis, when God told Adam and Eve not to take fruit from his tree.

They would lose a lot of money by not filling the plane, so they must have a good reason. Maybe it's for staff, or for disabled passengers?

On some airlines there are provisions for flight attendants to sit down in case of turbulence.
To the person who said 'terrorists sit there'....why say such crap? If you think that constitutes a 'joke'...that's dumb. People who think terrorism is joke material don't care that acts of terror cause terrible pain and grief and death....
