I saw a lady in my local vets filling in a form for PDSA assistance. All she had to do was prove that she was in receipt of state benefits and she qualified for free veterinary treatment. But I believe it is specific to the animal not the owner, so if you have two dogs you need a form for both. All the best xx

You should receive help and advice from your vet.
Is your dog insured? If it is it will be covered by the insurance.
If not ask your vet about help for medication through the PDSA - if they run the scheme through your vets you will probally need to provide proof of benefits and the medication should be covered. If your vet does not work with the pdsa you may need to find another vet who does.

I take it you never got your dog insured? When you take on a pet you should budget for all eventualities. Since you are on benefits, your best bet would have been spending £6 a month on insurance which would then cover his med's. If you live in a large city, see if there is a PDSA clinic where you may be able to get help.
I too am on benefits, but pay for my animals vet treatments since I accepted the responsibility when I took them on.

RSPCA, PDSA, or Blus Cross may help. If this is not feasible, ask your vet for alternatives that are cheaper, and then ask for a prescription - medicines can be obtained a bit cheaper online from various animal medicine sites, as long as you have a prescription

If you go to the RSPCA they will either give you a discount voucher for your vets (take proof that you are on benefits with you) or go to an PDSA vet surgery if you have one and they will treat your dog for a donation
