I found a new 2006 Giant TCR Composite 0 w/ full warranty at a nearby bike shop, cost $2400. I currently have a 2006 Specialized Allez Elite, But am looking to do several double centuries in the summer, some with 16,000+ feet of climbing. I would use my allez as a commuter, but the tcr as my Sunday's finest etc. Should I shill out the cash, or not?

I heard the carbon fiber frame was great for climbing, and also comfortable.

The TCR C0 is a nice ride. It should be wearing the new ten-speed stuff. One thing to keep in mind is that it is Giant's race geometry and is a double in the front and should be wearing a 12-23 cassette. It isn't exactly set up for climbing but it will do the job. You might look into a cassette with a 25 on the largest cog, it will climb a touch easier. If your looking for something that'll climb, look at the OCR C series. The geometry is more relaxed (sport road versus the TCR's race) and it uses a triple on the front and a 12-25 on the rear for easier climbing.

why don't you keep the allez elite and upgrape the grouppo for a hill climbing kit? a new bike won't help you get up the mountain, but the right gearset will allow you legs to overcome almost anything.

I agree with crazydave. I also see no problem with that. Just make sure that the bike fits you the way you want it to.

Sounds like a nice ride. If it's in the budget, go for it!

Personally, I'm not big on Giant or American frames for that matter. Italian made frames are great. If it has good components, go for it.
