Most people will wait until they buy their next PC.
Even Mi¢ro$oft admits that this is true.
With that said, I will personally wait a few months before I make the move. I just need to make sure all my hardware is compatible and to read some feedback. It took me a long time to leave 98, and if the price was lower, I would probably make the jump sooner.
Luckily, I've built my desktop within the last year, so it's up-to-date enough to run Vista. If you haven't done so already, make sure you have a newer video card and plenty of RAM (at least 1GB for best performance).

I just bought a new PC with Vista Home on it. Let me tell you, it is so innovative and sleek. The Aero and 3-D flip features are really something that OSX10 can't compare with. The only setback that I have about it is that there aren't alot of drivers for it yet, but most electronics come with their own on the CD-ROM. Also, I tried downloading Limewire, and that didn't turn out so well as now Limewire wont even start. HA HA.
My new PC has 2G of RAM and a 230G HDD a sound card with 256 MB of memory and a duo core processor and it works great! I expect people that don't meet the system requirements would dogg it because they cant get it or something...but yeah, its great, go for it if you can.
good luck

nope - too much hype about it at the mo where essentially its a new operating system that looks nice. It does have its benefits and innovation, but only when hardware prices drop again will vista be worth installing. I converted to Linux which has some nice interface touches that rival aero in vista. It may be a touch more fiddly, but that will change over time. I don't think its going to be as plain sailing as before for microsoft.

I will be waiting until I have seen some of the bugs worked out, at least six months. You can plan your installation by installing the upgrade advisor. It will tell you what software and hardware may not be Vista ready.

Hmmm i encountered alot of problems buying new products. unless it has been evaluated properly i wont try it, becoz normally when ever a new operating system comes out, it is often layed as a "Beta Testing". its like a real time evaluation of the product to customers. After awhile, a new version will come out and thats when i think i can buy the product.

Unless someone gives it to me as a present, then no. It's way to buggy and is pretty much in real time beta testing. It's just playing catch up with Mac OS X 10 anyway.

Give it a while to see what public feedback is like - could be loads of bugs, could be the most secure yet.
Let's see...reports from the front line?
