talk to your doctor. why not let your daughter be happy and love who she is instead of you being too concerned about making her slim. get her into soccer or whatever. but 85 lbs at 10 years old is not overweight.

talk to the doctor.

She only weights 85 pounds. That's really not a lot. You have to remember that she is fixing to go through a lot of changes in her body because of puberty. You can always get her exercising by letting her ride a bike. Don't push her because, she will resent you for implying that she is fat. You will mess her metabolism up completely if you make her "DIET". Just start making healthy dinners and packing her lunch with healthy snacks and food. She won't know the difference and it won't hurt her feelings or her body.

Good eating habits have to be acquired right from the infant stage.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

Maybe not a diet exactly, or don't tell her that. I would say just teach her healthy eating, and make things that she already likes with maybe lowfat cheese, things like that. I don't know what she likes but I myself am trying to lose some weight so I snack on carrots, oatmeal bars are healthy.

Just try healthy foods, and if you're a cook then you can cook up lots of great things that are low in fat.

And for exercise she probably would do things with you, being so young maybe see if she wants to go out for a sport of some sort, it could be the start of something great!

For exercise, she can start anytime. Diet is a no-no till 18 at least. Right now, she is growing and she needs all the nutrients she can get. Get her to eat healthy foods and less of sweets, chocolates, and chips etc.

Going on a diet would mean robbing your poor girl of important nutrients. At her age, proper nutrients for her is even more important then for any adults like you.

So, I'll say again, no diets for children. Anyone that is still physically growing.

Well that doesn't sound bad unless she is really short, but you should speak to her Dr before you do anything.

You should just always fix her healthy snacks and keep junkfood out of the house, and make exercise fun... a family activity!!

I wouldn't necessarily severely restrict the calories of a growing child but more or less drastically change the types of foods that she is eating. just don't buy any junk food, nobody in the house needs it anyway. and don't forget all the sugary drinks.

she should get enough exercise just being a kid, stop feeding her so much starch, rice and such, more veggies. no sweets.
