Yes......only after the mission is completed, the Iraqi government can protect it's own people, facilities and it's borders. The American soldier are not killing innocent people every day as you erroneously imply. The innocent people are being murder, assassinated, blown apart, kidnapped and butcher by their fellow Muslims, criminals,Iranians and any other Islamic fanatic that can get a gun or a bomb.
If and when the US and other coalition troops leave what do you think is going to happen? Instant peace in Iraq, the cessation of sectarian violence and Iraqi security.
Get back to reality. Syria and Iran will come in invited or not and split Iraq between them. And then there will be an outcry from people such as you and other Arab countries that Iraq needs help in repelling the true invaders. And who do you think they will call on...the USA. Why, because the Arabs and Muslims lack the ba**s and fight their Muslim brothers. Withe the exception of the 8 year Iraq-Iran war.
If that would happen then I thinks it would be time or the US to step back and tell all the Arab countries to solve the problem...and I doubt not one would get involved.
That's what I think....since you asked.

Sectarian violence in Iraq will continue with or without US troops. Innocent people die everyday in the world, not just because of American involvement in conflicts. For example, hundreds of thousands died in Rwanda. American troops were not present. There are 65 or more major conflicts in the world now, most are civil wars. Many are Islamic fundamentalists versus their own people. Some group or nation always has their "best interests at stake", and a majority of the time innocent people die. I think we should leave because we gave Iraqis a country without Saddam, they have had 3 elections, & they have had an established government for 4 years. It's time they take responsibility for their own affairs. If they want to slaughter one another, even at the expense of innocent people, then that is a choice they have to make for themselves. We can't stop an Islamic fundamentalist civil war. It's up to Iraqis to clean up their own home now.

My life will be on the line later this year (just like thousands of other soldiers over the years.) Do we need to leave Iraq? Yeah... I think we need to. I think we should pull out long enough to come up with a strategy, and then move back in. For now, I get the impression that there's a bunch of headless chickens running around trying to claim their territory over there.

They should never have been sent there in the first place. The US invaded with the intention of ousting saddam and gaining control of a foreign country. In getting rid of saddam, they created a power vacuum, with the predictable result of civil war.
The problem was created by the US, just as it was in Viet Nam (Jon may be a student of history, but I saw it happen). The only outcome can be a withdrawal of all troops but this time, the US should pay the cost of repairing the damage they have caused

First of all I think you need to learn how to spell, secondly they aren't the ones killing innocent people its the insurgents that are blowing up the bombs not the US troops. If the US should pull out I believe that there will be a bloodbath in that country like we haven't seen since Stalin was in office. Iran will try to influence them and we all know how Iran feels about the US and Israel. I think Israel would have no other recourse than to bomb Iran, and when I say bomb I don't mean with a conventional bomb.

They should have letf long ago. It is absolutely irresponsible to say that if they leave now it is going to be worse, cheap excuse for staying.
It has been a while talking about it . What did they do this year? More death and the worse situation ever.
Leaving and just pay for peace forces to take over helping people

No, not till Iraq can fend for itself, We have an obligation to help them become a free nation. If we leave now the Islamic militants will just be convinced that we do not have the heart to finish what we start. As one of your answerer's above me stated we left Nam and millions died. We leave Iraq and it will be the same thing all over again.

I am a student of history. And I recall a time when America left another nation. Vietnam. But after we left did the violence end? NO quite. Instead of thousands dead, it became millions which then led into Cambodia and the killing fields which was more than two million.
If you can deal with that on your conscience I say sure bring the troops home. But if you do value life, I would hope and pray that America doesn't leave. Especially if I was an Iraqi.

No,definitely...
Americans came into iraq for ,not Teros, only abandant oil and its geographical importance in Middle-East...
So they won't leave Iraq until unless they get back to the bimbo, or they suffer a lot of loss in some ways...
Or the only one and final way , if it's possible, is that they establish a puppet-regime in iraq, but it's not likely that they won't leave iraq completely, i think...
Only one way for Iraqi to get peace and happyness in iraq is that Syapa(religion) and Syunipa should be unified into one (i don't mean a unify in religion) and fight against US...
But now they have to cultivate their enough power to fight against US.(like DPRK)
