my family is migrating to a new country unless they change their mind. the thing is.i don't want to leave my puppy.. she's only 1 year old. i had her since she was a baby. (2 weaks old,her mother died).i love her soooooo much and we enjoy being together.yeah i know we can bring her but her ticket would be as expensive as mine and my parents disagree on spending that much for a dog. i tried my best to convince them but it was hopeless.just think of it. imagine. ever since she was a baby we were her family.we take care of her, play with her, and we love her.i even sing to her a lullaby with the guitar and she would close her eyes and sleep. she is a very smart dog she understands me and listens to me.she also obeys what i say.and then suddenly when i say goodbye to her one day i know she's thinking "they will be back later" but as time passes and we aren't back yet she would be heart broken thinking we abandoned her.i cant bare the thought of it. pls i'm serious what do i do? =(

If your puppy is small she may be able to go on board with you. But, please call the airlines you will be using. Shipping dogs is not as much as what your parents think probably. You will need a health certificate for your dog, which is usually 50 bucks for the checkup and paperwork. Then the airfare cost. Try to share how deeply you feel toward your dog, to your parents. Show them you are willing to take care of her and help out any way possible. There may be a reason your parents don't want to take her, but didn't tell you. Ask them to be open with you and you need to be open with them. They may reconsider.

If it does not work out, look for a family that can take good care of her and really want a dog but maybe can't afford a purebred puppy. It would be hard to give her up, but if you have to then try to choose the best possible family, and ask them to e-mail updates and photos of her so you can see she's happy. As loyal as our dogs are, they adjust to a new family fairly well. I hope it does not come to that for you!

Good luck!!

At this point if you can't get a job and pay for it yourself, try convincing your parents (promises, tears etc). Save all your money that you have towards this. Don't buy anything at all. It depends where you are moving and where from. The price of the plane ticket might be the same as the price of the dog in the country you are going (that was my case). So if you plan to have a dog in the future, you might as well keep this one.
Where is the dog going to stay after you leave?
For me, when we moved I was 15 and I had exactly the same problem. My parents talked to someone to take the dog. We took him there a few months before leaving to test it out. The dog didn't eat or drink water for 5 days. He just sat under a car and he was full of oil. The person we gave him to called us and told us about the situation. He was obviously going to die. So my parents decided to take him. :)

In response to people who say it is cheap to transport the dog, from Europe to Canada it was $650.

If she is a small enough dog you can bring her on board the flight otherwise you can ship her to your destination I suppose.
Can you do chores or something to earn enough money or at least a large portion of it and then maybe your family will meet you half way on the fare.
If your family knows you are serious about not wanting to leave her they my relent and help you pay it.
Good Luck!

Her airfare shouldn't be nearly as much as your ticket. Dogs traveling with their owners are usually charged between $50-$120
Call the airline that you will use, and ask about their rates, or email me, and I can tell you how much it would be..
If your email isn't activated for this forum, then post another question asking about the rate from point A to point B.

Is there any way that you can save the money to ship her? Maybe you could ask your parents if you could do extra chores in order to pay for the price of shipping. I hope that this helps and that you get to take your puppy with you.

if your parents aren't willing to help you pay to ship your dog with you, then you pretty much have the burden on your shoulders. do your best to earn the money needed to keep your pet with you. i empithise with you and hope you are able to come up with the money. ask your parents if you can manage to come up with half or something if they will help with the rest. do they just not care or what? good luck.

Explain to your parents exactly the way you explained it to us........maybe even read to them the answers you received. You will no doubt be emotional, and hopefully they will realize that the puppy is true family to you and wont split you guys up.
