Yes it does, but you have to drink it ice cold this is why.... If you drink 2.2 litres of ice cold water you have just burnt 123 calories extra that day and the reason is your body is working harder to warm up your body temp thust burning more calories. You also burn more calories when your cold because your body is working harder to warm up. I hope that answers your question, good luck.

It won't make you lose weight, but it might aid in helping you feel fuller faster (so you eat less and therefore lose weight) as well as flush your body of excess salt (excess salt can mean bloating).
Replacing soda or juice with water will help you lose weight because you'll be consuming less calories and sugar. Drinking water will also keep your skin looking nice.
People say 8 cups a day but recent research suggests that it depends on your daily lifestyle and your body weight. Just make sure your urine isn't very yellow (sorry for the graphic image) and you should be all right. If you want to lose weight, drink more water with every meal--that way you'll feel full faster.
edited to add: water weight (aka water rentention/water weight) is a result of not drinking enough water. If you drink enough water, then your body won't retain unecessary amounts.

A reasonable water intake can help with weight loss
The minimum figures for the body's daily water loss are 500ml through urine and 700ml through breathing and sweating. Doctors advise that to be on the safe side we should drink at least 1.2 litres, which is 2.5 pints, of liquid. So, remember, although water is essential, you don't need to become obsessed about drinking eight glasses a day!

Drink at least 8 glasses or water a day.

Drinking more water a day doesn't make you lose weight but it stops you from eating more which means lesser calorie intake which in turn help control your weight.

It does. It helps to flush the toxins out of your system. It will aids your digestive system to process and get rid of the garbage as well. Also, if you get hungry, drink a glass of water and it will fill you up, and you end up not eating so much.

Doctors usually recommend eight 12 oz. glasses a day, minimum.
