Matthew - Perhaps the least respected of all the gospel writers, being a tax collector.
Matthew2 - Perhaps the best educated of all the disciples, being in a government position and thus certainly the recipient of a good education

Mark - Likely accompanied the disciples, but was not one of the twelve
Mark2 - Wrote the earliest of all the gospels, it is believed

Luke - Was a Gentile, the only non-Jew of all the New Testament authors
Luke2 - The only author of the New Testament, it is believed, that never saw Jesus either in person or by Revelation as Paul did

John - One of the three within the inner circle of Jesus' disciples - James and Peter. Also of all the gospels, likely the least educated, and the easiest gospel to translate from the original Greek since the words used are the words a fisherman would use
John2 - Although he was the last one to author his gospel, the oldest known fragment of the New Testament is a portion of the Gospel of John dated to 90AD, within 60 years Christ, and perceived to be before the authorship of the epistles of John

I didn't go to Bible School, but here's a try.
Matthew, Mark, Luke = Synoptic.
John = Didactic.
Matthew, a tax man.
Mark, possibly half Greek.
Luke, a doctor.
John, the apostle of love.
There's a lot more things but this should get you started.

Matthew: Royal Gospel shows his kingship. (Lion)
Mark: Servant Gospel shows his mercy. (Ox)
Luke: Human Gospel shows his humanity & compassion. (Man)
John: Divine Gospel shows his Godhead and Divinity. (Eagle)

They represent the 4 fold witness of Christ as prophesied in the book of Ezekiel and repeated again in the book of Revelation.

mark has one young boy at the empty tomb
Mathew has two men
Luke has an angel
and John has like two angels and two men
something like that

Mathew copied some 600 verses straight from the book of Mark, most christian scholars are aware of this fact.
