Hi, I am new to this. But, hey I believe that Jesus Christ is God. In the old testament-each year-the Jewish people had to take an unspotted lamb to offer as a sacrifice for their sins. The priest would offer it upon the altar--as a sin offering. In saying that-the blood of animals could not take away the sin of the world, and God from the begginning of time knew what he would someday do. Jesus was both God and Man. Spirit and Flesh. The flesh died on the cross that day, It says in the bible, various places, Jesus said if you have seen me you have seen the father. So many scriptures.
People debate this all of the time. How,why, God robed Himself in Flesh, came to earth to die for a people that He loved. 2timothy 3:16. God was manifested in the flesh.
He`s God. Now we don`t have to sacrifice a lamb anymore. Because Jesus did it for us! He was the sacrifice.

Peace!
Jesus is both. I also asked myself many times why God would allow his son to be sacrificed just to appease himself. Because he loves us more than his son? It is really a mystery. I think more than anything else he also wanted to prove that there is a God who loves us and cares for us. Jesus Christ is the best proof that God exists. No human being could perform the miracles he did. Nobody can rise from the dead. All these things prove that Jesus has power over the forces of nature and life itself.
God bless

Let me again say it has to do with the "physics" of the spiritual world, let's say for example : "God is the sun and if in your present state, you attempted to approach him, you'd be burned up, but, in order to circumvent that, God made a way for you to be changed into the same heat energy as the sun so that you could approach him.." It's a little somethig like that...God wouldn't be God if he was an entity easily understood by the imagination of mankind...Now the Bible or the creation that surrounds us , that's, a different story...... Oh yeah, on one of your ques. someone mentioned the foreknowledge of God, he might know what people will choose at the end (He is outside the dimension of time) but, that is ultimately each individual's choice, free of God's desire for them...

If you only read the New Testament! Paul is great at tying in the Old Testament with the New, and giving the secrets about the nature of Jesus. I'm telling you, most of you current questions are already answered in the Bible.

Jesus was not God,he was the messenger of Allah, like many other prophets like Moses,Joseph,Noah,Muhammad etc.He was also not son of God.He was created by only mother(Mary) not with father, like Adam was created without mother and father.
On the day of judgement Allah will ask Jesus, did you tell the people that you are God,then Jesus will reply If I had said so then you would have known.I and my mother are free from what all was said about us.

For man to be redeemed from sin, it was necessary for a man to atone for sin.
Jesus became the only man who could get the job done.
This was necessary to destroy Satan's power, as well as provide a new and sinless leader for all mankind, who is Jesus Christ.
With Jesus at the head of mankind, instead of the sinful and fallen Adam, or Satan the devil, God was more than willing to offer forgiveness for sins. in exchange for our promise to be faithful to his divine son.
God didn't do all this just to "appease" himself.
He did it primarily because it was necessary to destroy Satan's evil dominion over mankind, which occurred as a result of Adam's sin.
That accomplished, he would later take care of forgiving our sins and restoring all things, through the sacramental work of the church that he personally founded.

Who did Jesus say he was? At John 10:36, he called himself God's Son, not God himself.
Jesus indicated his Father's superiority when he said: "Jehovah's spirit is upon me, because he anointed me to declare good news to the poor." (Luke 4:18) Anointing is the giving of authority or a commission by a superior to someone who does not already have authority. Here God is plainly the superior, for he anointed Jesus, giving him authority that he did not previously have.
Jesus made his Father's superiority clear when the mother of two disciples asked that her sons sit one at the right and one at the left of Jesus when he came into his Kingdom. Jesus answered: "As for seats at my right hand and my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whom they have been allotted by my Father," that is, God. (Matthew 20:23, JB) Had Jesus been Almighty God, those positions would have been his to give. But Jesus could not give them, for they were God's to give, and Jesus was not God.
