I can understand why you are considering this. Tundra's a great vehicles and having a "tray-back" would be idea! With regular servicing it would be a good runner for years...

You really have two options - custom made or pre-built. I would recommend starting with the pre-built option. In Australia flat decks or "utes" are everywhere - so their pre-built options are the best.

Ute Ltd in Seattle is now importing their beds and the construction is excellent. I'm not afiliated with them so I don't know about the price. But I would contact them first.

Details here: http://www.uteltd.com/pages/ute_tray.asp

Hope that helps.

Make sure the Tundra chassis can support a heavy flatbed. Flatbeds can be heavy which will overload the chassis and axles, that cause vibrations, instability, decreased payload and towing.

Consider buying a vehicle that is built and sold as a "chassis-cab." Those trucks that are sold with just a cab and the rest is the frame where you can mount/install anything you want.

Are you actually serious about doing this? Why not just trade it in for a flatbed pickup truck. You can run into all sorts of issues and roadblocks.

Try getting in contact with a company that specializes in this kind of stuff. They would be able to point you in the right direction.

Why should they? After all they are car owners of their own choice of brand and models. Like the saying goes, one man's meat is another man's poison, ya?
