I beleive what the Bible teaches. The Bible says that Jehovah created the earth “to be inhabited.” (Isaiah 45:18) The psalmist declared: “As regards the heavens, to Jehovah the heavens belong, but the earth he has given to the sons of men.” (Psalm 115:16) It is the earth, not heaven, that will be mankind’s permanent home. Ps. 37:11: “The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”
Rev. 21:1-4: “I saw a new heaven and a new earth . . . I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’”
Mic. 4:3, 4: “They will not lift up sword, nation against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. And they will actually sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and there will be no one making them tremble; for the very mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken it.”

Immortality would be horrible. I do not wish for eternal life at all, particularly not the Christian version. I had one or two Christians tell me that their God would wipe my memory clean so I wouldn’t even remember my Mom. For some odd reason they think this is going to comfort me. Yeah like, telling someone that they are going to have what for all intents and purposes amounts to a lobotomy so that they will forget someone they loved very dearly is going to make them happy. There are so many objections to this I wouldn’t even know were to begin. When you loose someone, one of the most precious things you have is your memories of that person. Now this idea of the memory wiping comes straight from the bible, Jesus claims that in heaven, all tears will be wiped away and all things will be made new. Who you are would have to be altered beyond recognition for you to have no tears, pain or suffering.
Many people who have rejected Christianity site the doctrine of hell as one of the major reasons, and I agree, the idea of a God punishing people for all eternity simply because they didn’t worship him is sadistic beyond comprehension. But the turning point for me was thinking about what would Heaven be like? What kind of heaven would it be like without those whom you loved most? What type of heaven would it be like if you can’t even remember those you loved because God erased your memory? You surely wouldn’t then be able to remember anything at all about your life here on Earth as a result. You wouldn’t be the same person you are now because all the things that make us who we are would be striped from you. What makes us who we are is our memories and past experiences.
Then of course is the matter of living for all eternity in one place, spending all your days doing nothing but praising a God that stole your memories and robbed you of kin sentencing them to the lake of fire. I think any sentient being would in time go insane as the centuries rolled by. It sounds like an awful dreary existence. Eventually, if we don't have a continually challenging and diverse environment, we will die, yet in heaven you cannot die. You are forced to exist forever, you can’t commit suicide in Heaven. I started to see why Lucifer and one third of the angels rebelled against (the Christian) God. Heaven seems like a fate far worse then hell. In fact, Heaven starts to sound almost like the Norse version of Nastrond, where the really wicked people are sent for punishment. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate irony?

I do not see what would be the point of eternal life, eternal life does not interest me. I do not believe in a monotheistic deity that judges people upon whether they chose the right religion. I believe in the energy flow of the universe. I believe in reincarnation, from the Buddhist perspective, not the Hindu, until our concept of self learns everything it needs to, in which the learning process and the cycle of reincarnation stops.

Yes. Simple reason why: In the Transfiguration Moses and Elijah appear in the clouds in front of James, Peter, John and Jesus. Jesus doesn't say, "Hey guys meet Moses and Elijah" but instead the disciples instantly recognize them, as if they had always known their faces.
Yet I do not think we will look on each other as, "You were my dad. Oh you were my wife. Oh you were my third grade teacher". I think we will look on everyone as fellow brethren, and I am not sure if we will know what relation we had or not, but we will basically know every single person there.

The afterlife is a construct of the human mind. It was developed to help primitive (and sometimes not so primitive) man to deal with both life ("this world is hard, but the afterlife is peaceful"), or a fear of death ("you don't really die...you live in joyous harmony and peace forever").
Dead is dead. One's afterlife is only as "eternal" as the deeds he has done to keep him remembered.

I think eternal life is a fantastic song. Jeff Buckley at his best. The man was a whirling dervish on the guitar...and the passion that went into that song awes me. Damn rivers.

Another flaw of the Bible. What if one of your family members was a nonbeliever? Wouldnt you be sad that he/she wasn't with you? But then in the Bible says Heaven is a place of no sorrow... Right.
OMG MANHATTAN GIRL!!!!! It's meant to be, you see?
