I live away from home for school, and since I've been here. I had these migraines at 3am in the morning for the past 9 days At this point sleeping it off is no longer an options, lately I've been sitting in my house in the dark with no sound just to dull the pain a bit. However I feel it taking a toll on my mental health which I've already been labeled as bipolar depression. But I'm at wits end and dont know what to do.

I too am a migraine sufferer, I feel your pain! You need to go see a doctor and have him prescribe one of the new and improved migraine medications.

What I can't figure out is why you are getting the headaches at the same time everyday. Can you think of anything that has changed in your house 9 days ago that could be causing these headaches? Different laundry detergent or fabric softener? If you live in a state where it gets cold in the winter, is your furnace working correctly? Are you eating differently? Are you taking any new medications? I guess I'm trying to figure what your trigger is. Most migraine sufferers have a trigger that sets the migraine in motion.

You say that you are bipolar, are you being treated for that? Maybe the doctor needs to adjust your meds.

Temporarily, you could try taking 2 Advil (ibruprofen) and 2 Excedrine Migraine tablets. I have taken this cocktail several times for a Migraine and just a plain old headache and it works well. Don't take this as a steady diet, but I would certainly do this until you can see a doctor.

Good luck.

You need to go and see a doctor right away. There is no need for you to be suffering. If you have to go to an ER. Then they can check you out and check the reasons of why you are having these migraines. And then if it just normal migraines then they will give you a prescription that will help you with the pain. I take Imitrex for my migraines. You take it right at the first sign, and it knocks it out before I even get it. Without it I suffer with migraines at least 2 or 3 times per month. I haven't had a migraine in quite a few months now. But of course, a doctor would know what is best for you. Stress and caffeine and alcohol trigger migraines so try to relax and stay away from too much coffee or soda and alcohol.

I've been battling migraines all my life:

Limit caffeine (soda, chocolate, coffee, tea) and salt intake. Stay hydrated, that's REALLY important.
Artificial sweetners can be a problem too.
Keep a journal of things you experienced on the days that you get migraines and see if you notice trends or triggers. I found out one of mine is garlic.

migraines are different for everyone and everyone gets them for different reasons. A lot of mine are hormone triggered. 9 days is excessive, you should really consider seeing a doctor and if they're that bad they'll give you a prescription from the triptan family (Imitrex, Frova etc) Those usually work, but again, everyone is different. Sometimes they cure mine in 20 minutes, sometimes they don't help at all.

Stress management is important, stress is a huge trigger for migraines... and you're in school so there you go. I would imagine having an already diagnosed condition can take a toll stress wise. Also, if you're on meds for that condition, they can contribute to your migraines. I fyou are on meds for bipolar, DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING without talking to your doctor or pharmacists, a lot of things interact seriously with those medications.

I know your pain and I'm really sorry. I hope you feel better soon!

The best thing to do is to go to the doctors and go see a Neurologist. I also suffer from severe migraines and headaches. It becomes a serious problem if you have had more then two migraines a month meaning something is up. So the best you can do is see a Neurologist and get it checked out. The best thing to do until it is solved is to turn off all sound and lights and try to get some sleep. What my doctor recommends I do is take aleve since it is stronger then most pain medications until they solve the problem. Best of luck, I know how painful they are. :[

I suffer from migraines nearly every week, so here's what I do... and it works!!
Take two Paracetomol/codeine tablets and wash them down with coffee.
It gets rid of my migraines within 10 minutes, and they don't come back when the medication has worn off.
:-)

It could be something you eat. You can get tested for that kind of thing. My roommate figured out that wheat gives her migraines. Maybe you can watch the foods you eat to see when your migraines occur and when they don't

go to an ER. They will give you an injection for the pain and pills to take home with you for future migraines. Go now and take someone with you since you'll be out of it after the shot.

Read the book: You're not sick, you're thirsty. Pain is the body's way of telling you to drink more water. The body must have at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water per day. I drink a glass of water every hour that I am awake.
