I've just moved into a new one bedroom apartment that's 790sq ft. I'm not very good at decorating, but I want my place to look nice. The carpet, cabinets, and walls are white/neutral and all the fixtures are brushed nickel. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Add bright colors and use mirrors anywhere you can to make the area look bigger.

Get a friend to help you install some triangle-shaped shelves where two of the walls meet. Uses space which would otherwise go to waste. Suggest two large shelves 36" each side, 51" wide across the front. Or, 4-5 small shelves 18" each side, 26" wide across the front.

Try to stay away from dark colors as they will make your apartment appear smaller.

First create a focal point. Make it beautiful. Then decorate everything else in the room to accentuate it. Use three colors, one main, one secondary, and the third sudden bright small accents.

Keep the windows bright and cheerful to make the room look larger. Don't get furniture too big.

go with bright colors, not dark. Yellows make a room appear larger and are so cheerful. Greens a good too.
