We just recently moved in together about 4 months ago so we are kind of tight on money right now. Last night I said "baby, I know we don't have much money so I know we can't do anything extravagent for valentines day so I was thinking maybe I could make some food and we can have a little picnic on the beach and we can watch the sunset and just have a little romantic night together"...he said no! When I asked him why he said and I quote..."Because it sounds boring." How do I get him to realize that it is the little things that make me happy? That no matter how much jewelry and material things I have all I really want is his time, attention, and affection. On march 14th we will be together for 4 years and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me, I love him more than anything in this world...I just wish he was a little more romantic. Help!

I understand. My advice is to tell him that this kind of thing makes you happy and that you NEED this in your life, because hints don't work on many men.

Well, if he says it sounds boring, at least he's telling you the truth. Sounds to me like you two need to meet somewhere in the middle, remember it's not all about you just like it's not all about him.
Try to find something you both enjoy. Remember, romance is overrated, it's the lasting memories of good times shared that count.

Maybe you can compromise with him, tell him you'll bring a football some chicken wings and a 40oz. of beer, I know my man would love that.

He sound like he's a "my way or the highway type of guy" and more often then not thinks of himself only.

it's true that hints don't work on us but you also shouldn't have to compromise. maybe he is thinking of himself, which isn't good, so why not direct him to yahoo answers. show him your questions and that romance question of mine ;)
