I'm going to New York with a friend of mine over Spring Break. And instead of going to all the touristy places like the Statue of Liberty and Central Park, we want to do almost weird things! Does anyone know of any fun places that aren't well known? Any places that will make for a really weird story later on?

Hang out in Washington Square Park, fun stuff goes on there... and if not you can people watch, which is a trip in itself... and while you're there, go to the Peanut Butter Company.
Our favorite Cafe is near ST Mark's Place called Yaffa, crazy decor, and usually don't ID for alcohol at night (shhhhh)
The Comedy Cellar is in the village, pretty cheap and a lot of fun. With 2 people you can usually get in w/o reservations and there's a 10$ cover with a 2 item minimum. They usually have at least one famous TV personality on the lineup every night, it's my favorite comedy place.
It's pretty tame stuff, but we enjoy it and it's mostly CHEAP which is important cause we're in college and broke.

I know this might sound weird ...but sometimes shopping and site seeing can be so tiring and we always end up wasting $$$ .......sooooo try just finding a nice place to sit ...eat ice cream and watch people ! I love looking at peoples shoes ...it tells alot about someone ! Remember there is a difference between looking and staring ...u don't want to start a fight with anyone !
Also try finding some bridges ....water , people and traffic look really neat from above (high heights) !
Parks are fun too ...lots of dogs and u can feed the squirrels !

Well you could climb the Statue of Liberty wearing no pants.Sort of "doing a Britney"
You could go to Central Park and jump out at tourists and shout "I am not a Flasher,I have just lost my bike"
Go to Madame Tussuad's museum and tell the "people" that they are "not looking themselves"
Go up to a PC "panhandler,bum or street person" and ask them for money.Tell them that you are a poor student,They will believe that.!!

Go to the BODIES Exhibit at the seaport. See Blue-man Group.
Go to Times Square. See AVE Q. Go to http://www.theatermania.com for discounts.
Go to Harlem Sunday morning for a Baptist Revival.
See "Night at the Museum" at the movies, then go to the Museum of Natural History. Go to the MET(good deck for meeting singles), MOMA (a fabulous restaurant), MUSEUM OF SEX.
Eat at Le BERNADIN (IF you can afford it. You will never have a better meal ANYWHERE) TAO to be seen, SPICE MARKET for exotic flavor, ANGELO & MAXIES to get picked up, BED or DUVET to eat in bed.
The Staten Island ferry has the best view of the city for $0.25, The ride on top of the Empire State Building.
Try to get tickets for Montel or The View.
There is usually something happening outside for the Morning Show at 59th & 5 early in the morning.

Try the Museum of Sex. It only takes 30 minutes to an hour to go through (depending on how quickly you keep moving) and it's good for a laugh. A bit of an eye-opener too!

A day travelling the subways ought to do the trick! You will have plenty of wierd things to remember!
