So being in college has affected my diet quite a bit (Pizza, Nachos, Sodas, etc.). However, I have been slowly adding some fiber back into my diet (I have had a history of hemorrhoids).

Morning I eat something like Cheerios or a bran bar. I make sure to drink lots of water or juice (for the vitamin boost). Lunch I tend to have a salad (with water). Snack time I chow down an apple, or if I have a taste for salty things, any salty snack with some fiber. I'll be honest and say dinner time is where I begin to screw up, I eat meats, quesadillas, pizza, etc. (not all at once), but if I'm eating say a sandwich, I add tomatoes and such.

Anyway so the point is:

1). How long does fiber/water take to I guess soften my stool? I'm sure it's not instantenous.

2). Dumb question, but if I have say like salad (with tomatos, kidney beans, peas, etc.) and then have something like a chicken quesadilla, will my fiber benifits be nullified?

No your benefits will not not be nullified, however if your have subsisted on a very poor diet for quite some time you may need to jump start your body's cleansing mechanisms by means of a cleansing diet and/or cleansing herbs. Once this is done, then you should see more immediate results from your changed diet.

It can take up to two weeks, depending on the amount of fiber you have added.
The beneficial effects of the added fiber will not be lost, you will add the harmful effects of whatever you ate.
A lot of the things you mention eating contain cheese, were you aware that cheese has a constipating effect?
Just keep trying to include more healthy food and it will become a habit!

I'm not sure exactly but my bet is that it will take as much time as it takes for you to digest the food. The more I think about you "dumb question" the less dumb it seems. Do you mean like the benefits will be over powered by the crap you've eaten?

I don't know about fibre but I find grapes certainly help me out with all that...
