If it is just a small pain try laying down on your back on the floor and bring your knees up to your chest. Then rock side to side. Do that a few times and you'll feel some of your muscles relax.

Another relaxing move is to sit in a chair, with your back off the chair back, and slowly bend forward with your arms dangling in front of you. lean forward until your head is basically between your legs and you arms are dangling between your legs also. rest there a moment, then slowly comeback up to a normal sitting position.

That should help. If it does not then go see your chiropractor or your doctor. If your doctor is a D.O. then he or she can make bone adjustments in the office.

I could tell you ideas on how to get rid of it but they may be temporary if you are doing something in your daily life to cause chronic back pain.

A lot of people get lower back issues due to weight problems, poor foot support and work envirornment. If you have a little more weight than you should be carrying obviously you want to lose weight so I'm not even gonna preach about it. One thing to do to help ease your pain in the mean time is to stretch (preferable in the "neutral position", look up stretches in neutral position) and practive good posture. You would be surprised how standig up straight with your chest poked out and not slouching in a chair can take a load of your back.

Also, shoe inserts. The legs and feet talk straight to your back when somethings wrong. If you find yourself on your feet day to day for long periods of time you have to make sure you have the proper support.

I know I am telling you how to prevent back pain but that's the real answer on how to get rid of it. As for now, put some heat on it. Use a heat pad and if you don't have one take a "deeply" hot bath or shower (bath preferably). If you can take a hot bath use some epson salt, it penetrates the skin and has relaxing properties to it. If you have some hands to put to work get a nice and firm rub down. Take an advil or tylenol extra strength, they will take the bite off while you give yourself some TLC.

I hope this helps!

Take care and sit up straight!

Alternate heat and ice packs 20 minutes at a time. I that fails then do some easy stretching. If no success...perhaps you might consider a chiropractor.

I broke my back several years ago and when it gets kinks the heat and ice work or me.
