I'm a 17 year old girl and I cry maybe twice a year.
Which is NOTHING for teenage girl standards. The only time I do is when I have a panic attack or sometimes not even then.

Am I just an insensitve cow? I mean I'm touched by some things like the Pursuit of Happyness-- oh wow... but like most women, it doesn't bring me to tears.

Should I be thankful for this? I mean, doesn't it feel good to cry?

lol, I have a lot of tension issues, would it help to just LET GO?

How do you feel about it?
I'm not sure. It makes me feel strong but at the same time, I almost feel that if I want to, I can't because no one expects that of me and I hate when people try to touch you when you cry.

Do YOU feel like you need to cry more often?
Sometimes. This year is stressful, not my worst, but sometimes, when I'm over tired I don't know what to do with myself.

What do you do to get rid of tension?
I'm a little artist. I draw. I paint. I take a few asprin and I lay down in a dark room. Or if it's at school or in public somewhere I breathe.... oxygen- extra oxygen- makes you calm, that's why they put the oxygen masks on airplanes for crashes.

I hardly cry. The only time I cry is when I am really really drunk and I tend to get emotional with my husband. But other than my spaz moment with drinking, I don't cry at all. It's not a sensitivity thing, it just when something hurts you so bad, you cry. Every day life issues are a daily burden. **BY THE WAY I love that song by Cher (Bang Bang)**

When you need a good cry then have one but by no means cry just to be crying. On the other hand do not be holding it in either all the time if it is needed. Some people are just sorry for themselves, not that they do not have a reason, and others have depression which is a medical condition. Just be glad that you are not sad all the time.

Make sure that you are dealing with stress in a healthy way though. Bitterness and anger are worse then crying. We can be strong but that does not mean we have to bear everything on our own.

Sounds to me like you store it up and let it go the few times you do cry. How do you feel about it? Do YOU feel like you need to cry more often? What do you do to get rid of tension? Sometimes even when you don't have a reason to cry, crying makes things feel a little better. But everyone is different.

Using oxygen to make you feel good is not appropriate and that isn't the reason for masks in planes. They are to be used only in the event the cabin loses altitude pressure. By the way, you are not a cow and need to think more of yourself than saying something so silly. There is nothing wrong with being sensitive about things. I feel it just shows you are a good and caring person.

I was like that too when I was in my teens. I think part of the reason for it was that I was at a low point in my life, and I was happier being sad...if that makes any sense. That may not be true for you...and if its not i don't think that not crying makes you insensitive at all. If you feel like you are missing out by not crying...try have the most depressing day of you life by listing all the painful things that have happened to you, and how it made you feel...listen to Nirvana...who knows...it might help. It might also be something you'll grow in to. I used to think my mom was weird when I would see her cry watching movies and things, but now that I'm an adult I cry every suday when I watch extreme makeover, and whenever else i feel like it.

that could be why you have some tension issues.
i cry all the time. at least once a day. not by choice mind you, I'm just very emotional...maybe i have some issues of my own. if i watch something on TV that is the slightest bit sad i cry. or when something happy happens i cry.
i tipped a cab driver the other night, and he told me how much he appreciated the extra money. i got all teary eyed when i got out of the cab. the stupidest little things make me cry, and i feel like an idiot sometimes.
i would say your emotions are just the opposite of mine, maybe someday they will change.

When I was younger (teens and very early 20s) I never used to cry...and was accused of being insensitive. Later on, I realized that when I do cry it is really related to hormones. Different birth control pills can make the amount I cry differ greatly.
Be thankful that yours are as stable as they are right now. Being able to hold your own and handle it without breaking down is a huge skill to always have.

Crying is overrated. I avoidit when I can; there's no need to show the whole world your weaknesses. Men have been getting along fine for genreations suppressing the urge to let the tears flow, so why shouldn't we follow suit? There are enough chinks in women's armor without us hacking some more in there.

Just because you are female does not mean that you start bawling at the drop of a hat.

You very well may have a rational personality.

Those with rational personalities pride themselves on emotional control.

It does not mean that you don't' have them- you just have them well- heeled.

Keep in line with your own personally philosophy on how you want to emotionally interact with the world-

Perhaps you want to go on a Multplayer on line game and "pwn some noobs" to vent your frustration.

Personally, I found I liked to come home from a frustrating day at work and sniper people in the head with grand theft auto 3 (when it was first out...dates me a bit)

It was very cathartic.... and prompted my husband buy me a little desk waterfall...to SOOOOOTH me.... I would rather sniper pixel people....
....find your own way to blow off steam.
