"Gross Hemoturia. RBC's (red blood cells) in the urine cause the urine to be red. This is always a pathological sign unless the blood is found to be from a source other than the urinary tract. Tumors, trauma, stones, and infection anywhere in the urinary tract can cause RBC's in the urine. Glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis (both are types of kidney infections), acute necrosis, and polynephritis are also associated with hemoturia."

If you also have elevated proteins (proteinuria) you should suspect glomerulonephritis.

My best guess given your diet, is kidney stones. Whatever it is, you should see a doctor.

If u wish to drink, please do so with meals.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

I have been on the Atkins diet. I have felt like crap, been moody and had fainted but never have I had blood in my urine. I think that that is a cause for concern.
