I know it seems early to think about college as a high school freshman, but in reality, it is not that early. Colleges look at the high school transcript from grade nine on. Unfortunately, there are not too many good paying jobs these days that do not require some form of further training such as technical school or even a college. It used to be 20 years ago that a secretary only needed a high school diploma, and now, most employers require an associates degree. Maybe, it is an idea to research now the colleges you might be interested in and ask her to take you around on a tour of them. Good luck!

I think you answerd your own question at the end. Your Mom's just doing what parents DO- looking after the best interests of their kids. Yeah, I know it can drive you batty- especially when you have plenty of stresses of your OWN to deal with... But look at it THIS way; once you DO get to college- this will all be behind you (& you'll have plenty of OTHER things to worry about). If your parents are willing to shell out the big bucks to send you to a popular school- humor them. Once you're in, you'll be on your own & none of this will matter anymore. Good luck! :)

You should start going on college tours with your mom. You can both talk about what you like and dislike. Give her an outlet for all the college talk.
