I dropped 30lbs with Atkins. I kept the weight off, too. Any diet requires a certain amount of work after you're off of it. No diet is a miracle cure. You don't have to stuff yourself with meat for the rest of your life, but simply being more conscious of the breads and pastas and how your metabolism processes them and at what speed helps you to keep the weight off. I do recommend it to drop the weight quickly. I never felt better. I was awake on time every morning and never woke up tired. My body was up and going and I had tons of energy. The thing about Atkins is that it is recommended as a lifetime regimen (which gets much easier after the first two weeks) not a quick-fix diet. However, if you decide to try it, remember that once you go off it, it's like any other diet. You need to watch your intake and specifically what you take in, as well as remaining active. I loved it, personally. Good luck with your dieting!

I was on Atkins for 3 months in 2005 and I lost 30 lbs, then I plateaued. This year I decided to watch my calories, fat, protein & carbs and in 4 weeks I've lost 11 lbs! Much better than Atkins. The diet is good for the vendor/manufacturer.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

Bad idea. You do not need less carbs but more good carbs. Diets do not work since 99% of the people gain the weight back. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.
