I think the US should stop invading other countries. I am an American against terrorism of all kinds, including the rather dirty things that the US has been involved in.
This is not to say that the US could never attack, especially if it was attacked.
However the attacks of 9/11 did not give us a black check to attack just any country, especially one like Iraq that was not linked to 9/11 at all.
9/11 should have been a wake up call to how America is perceived around the world. Instead we furthered the same policies that caused the hatred.

I actually believe and believe this strongly; that man must fight and struggle against each other as it is human nature. One of the reasons that we have no patriotism anymore is because we have become very wussy and much to politically correct. We have allowed the women (nothing against women, I've been married to the same one for 34 years) to run the government and set policy.
The US needs to go in and just kill kill kill. Any country that looks crosswise at us before we lose our edge to China. MOAB the he*l out of the Middle East and South Africa. Hit Russia while they are weak and boot France back into the Medieval Ages. This would boost our economy and give our young men something to do other than get into trouble. It would also make the world safer for every other non-aggressive nation. You know Chenggas Khan (Temüjin), as brutal of a war lord as he was, created a diplomacy for China, Persia and Europe that is still in effect today.
Next time someone is bad mouthing the US and our aggression, just tell them that if the US acted like the Muslims we would be over there bombing them back to the stone age without loosing any American lives rather than trying to help them. If the Muslims could do it they would be nuking us, why is it wrong for us to do it to them?
And Dick V; when I came back from serving my country in 71 I had some long-haired A-hole spit on me as I left the bus terminal and call me a baby killer, that wasn't you was it?

War!.. The US is the worlds only super power!. Having that title make it a target for those who are jealous of its influence and hate its freedoms.
The USA is a great country! it can seem to be misguided in its judgements with its overseas political aims corrupted by greed and its need to keep Allies in the fight against the evils of Muslim fundamentalism /Communism and totalitarian states who have pretentions of grander beyond their abilities to understand or control.
I doubt very much if there are many Americans who want to see their sons friends dads moms arnt uncles and brothers sent over seas to fight wars.. In fact they will have to sacrifice even more , because that's the price of freedom..

Yes we should stop attacking other countries; just as soon as all the rag heads are dead. There will be no peace in this world as long as the extremists want to KILL all christians. GET IT??? Wish our goverment would grow some balls, quit worrying about the press and what he LA Times has to say and bomb the sh--- out of Iraq, Iran, N. Korea, and a few other rag head nations. Sh---, gas would go to .50 cents a gallon and we could move thru the airport without all the crap we have to put up with now. Vote for Hilliary. I'm pretty sure she's REAL strong on defense' just like her wife (Bill) was. I think we will see a civil war here again. We really need to get rid of the left wing wackos to save our country. Sh---, Hanoi Jane is back. Wish her, Hilliry, Bill, Susan S. Sean P., and about 20 others would have been on one of the flights into the towers. God Bless America and scr..... a liberal. peace

Bush and Blair may be the mad dogs of war..but at least they're our dogs and they bark and bite for us. If the threat of global islam is allowed to prevail and we end up being ruled by mad mullahs under sharia law, I do not think there would be any of us allowed to voice our opinions on this site (the ones still alive that is). the only problem is that sending in troops is wasteful in terms of money and lives. A preemptive nuclear strike against Iran would achieve world peace at the expense of negligible loss of humanity and send out a strong message to the rest of the arab countries to stop dealing in terrorism.

They should, but they can't.
What I think we need to understand is that what is so overt today - Afghanistan, Iraq - has been going on for years, decades...
Do not blame some right wing agenda, it was Bill Clinton who ordered the bombing in former Yugoslavia; it was Kennedy who tried to invade Cuba.
The US via the Monroe Doctrine, took the decisive step of determining that the way to ensure their pre-eminence in teh world was to control others who might raise their heads by any means necessary.
The US has intervened across the world and over time to deal with governments - even democratically elected ones- who seem to have an agenda that implies wanting more for their countries and less for the US MNCs.
Please read about Mossadegh, Arbenz, Allende.
Please read about the Iran-COntra Affair, about the invasion of the mighty Grenada, of Haiti, of the invasion of Panama and look especially for what was happening and what happened to the Panama Canal. On a paralell note, read about Unocal and Afghanistan and the pipeline from the Central Asian states, through Afghanistan to India and Pakistan, and think about the need India has for oil.
What the rest of the world - ex-US - needs to see is that the US is defending its interests. Whereas most nations would defend their territorial integrity by using violence and their interests using diplomacy, the US defends its territorial integrity as well as its interests using violence.
This has been the policy and will be the policy for the forseeable future, so I don't think the US will stop attacking other countries. That's something the rest of the world has had to deal with, and will have to deal with.
As for the proportion of Americans who think they should stop attacking other countries, I think you need first to see how the 'facts' are presented to them. Nicaragua was a communist state two hours drive away from Texas. Iraq was supposed to be behind 9-11 and Saddam Hussein was supposed to have weapons of Mass destruction, their secretary of state for defence even went to the UN to present incontrovertible 'evidence' to that effect. I'd say many people in the US are mis-informed, and do not bother to find out for themselves. And there lies the crux of the matter.

I'm an American... we attacked Iraq (with the approval of Congress), enforcing UN resolutions (which they can never enforce). Okay, we "attacked" Panama, Grenada, and Iraq... all to liberate the populace from dictatorships.
Amazing the percentage of Americans who WERE behind the policy back in 2001-2003

When I was young...long long ago...there was a slogan:"Make love, not war!"
That, to me, still seems the best attitude.
People would love Americans much better then and the economic prospects of the USA would be gigantic. In sharp contrast with the enormous budget deficit the USA have now.
Other countries are turning to the euro as their international valuta because they don't trust the dollar any more.
The proportion of Americans against the wars??? I don't know. Their number seems to be growing, fortunately.
Let's hope they get wise.
