this is what i do: and i have soft lips. take a washcloth with your regular soap and warm water as warm as you can stand, wash all of the dead skin off your lips. then keep them moist with vaseline or your favorite chapstick. never go to sleep without cleaning and applying either one of these. i promise you wont have this problem again. keep a small jar of vaseline or chapstick by your bedside. i also have a chapstick in my purse and in just about all my jackets. i can alway find one handy.

in my opinion, it's too difficult to try to keep lips moist, even when a person drinks tons of water. i drink a lot everyday but i still have dry lip problems until i started using Cortibalm.
you've got to try Cortibalm. Once you try it, you'll never go back to using anything else, honestly.
i've been answering any question about dry lips with this on Yahoo answers because it truly is a wonderful lip balm.
Ask for a free sample through the website by sending a SASE, and they'll send you a free sample in a foil packet.
After i got my sample and used it, i looked for it on Ebay and bought it for a pretty reasonable price.

Increase your water intake and be sure to use vaseline regular and not the lip balm kind at night. Consider using something better than chapstick though for routine use.

drink water, take an essential fatty acid like fishoil, flaxseed oil or primrose oil. Check to see if your toothpaste contains sodium lauryl sulfate, if it does switch it. Also switch your chapstick. I use one from Wild Oats, it's in a long white tube and it is mainly made of shea butter. I've tried hundreds of chapsticks but nothing works like that stuff. Sorry, I can't remember the name of it

Carmex is great for lips, and it feels wonderful on chap lips when you first apply it. Very soothing! Also drink lots of water and cut down on beverages with caffeine. Winter weather is rough on skin, and not being hydrated on the inside can make dry skin worse.

First stop licking them. Then look for 100% pure Shea butter. It's great. It's similar to cocoa butter but a bit more serious. Put some on you lips before bed and you'll be good to go in the morning. Trust.

Before you go to sleep, slather on a thick layer of Vaseline and let it sink in as you sleep. After doing this regularly for a while, your lips will begin to heal and will chap less and less.

I have used Carmex for years and it is great! You can get it at any Wal Mart or drug store and it's cheap. I put it on my lips every night before I go to bed and it stays on all night. I hate the way Chapstick smells and it wears off quickly. Carmex is so much better.

i get severely chapped lips all the time, even when i drink a lot of water. i have found that neosporin lip treatment and even just plain neosporin works better than anything else.
