I had positive ANA tests as a teenager, and the doctor blew them off as being related to my early onset hypothyroidism. Now I have the butterfly rash, chronic fatigue, I'm sick at least half of the year, and no one seems to have any answers. Does anyone have lupus? If so, how were you diagnosed? How was it distinguished when all of my symptoms seem so ambiguous?

My daughter's ANA has been positive for several months. She has arthritis, fatigues easily and has a weakened immune system. You need to see a rheumatologist. She will be able to make a definitive diagnosis. Good luck with this. Getting a diagnosis for my daughter has been difficult because she is only seven years old and also has Down syndrome. It has been an uphill battle, but I can already see signs of improvement. God bless.

Hi! well, I have been diagnosed with Lupus for almost five years now, but started having the symptoms long before that. It took doctors a long time to diagnose me, which isn't uncommon when Lupus is in question. My initial symptoms were the rash, extreme fatigue, low grades fevers that would last all day long, severe anemia, getting sick alot and I also had a small stroke. Everyone is different, but to diagnose Lupus you have to meet a certain set of criteria. You should see a rheumatologist, if you havent already, who will check to see if you meet the criteria:this includes, checking ANA tests, sed rates, checking to see if you have met a criteria of symptoms such as photosensitivity, blood disorders like anemia or blood clotting issues, fatigue/weakness,muscle and joint pain and weakness, rashes, sores, any neurological problems,etc...I believe this set of criteria is available on the Lupus foundations website...Just dont give up - it might take awhile for you to be officially diagnosed, but thats ok, you want to make sure they have the right diagnosis - there are other conditions that have some of the same symptoms so they have to be sure...If you meet a certain number of Lupus "criteria" you will most likely be diagnosed with it....It takes time though, they had to rule out other diseases before they diagnosed me with Lupus so they might have to do the same for you..
I hope that helps -

My daughter has Lupus, she is only 13 years old but she was first diagnosed at 5.

It started with the butterfly rash, fever , weight loss and hair thinning. After a whole lot of test from the doctor, she was diagnose with Lupus. She went into remission for 6 years after, and by 11 started getting sick again. Now she is very sick because she also has a cold like virus and it has set the Lupus out of control, she has had a fever for 6 days now with severe pain in her body.

So make sure your doctor pays extra attention. Bring it up again, next visit. Maybe the earlier they start treatment the better. Don't let this be ignored by these doctors. this illness has set my daughter back in every way. It is terrible for her to have to live this way , when her life hasn't even begun yet.

Please take care of yourself. God Bless.

I know of a handful of people who went into remission from Lupus
simply by raising their body's pH level to 7.5 and higher. They became very alkaline by taking mega doses of Miracle2 Neutralizer. You can read more about this at www.Miracle2Heals.org
