Salt can potentially have several negative side effects in the body. Think of salt and ice. What does the salt do? It absorbs the water... right? The same thing happens in the body. Salt causes your body to retain fluid... thereby increasing your blood pressure. So what does consuming too much salt mean for you? If you have proper kidney function... probably nothing. When excess sodium is not properly excreted from the body you may experience weakness/fatigue... experience neurological symptoms... and in worst case scenario... lapse into a coma and/or die. Salt is something that is taken for granted... but in reality, it is something that should be used in moderation.

Salt is not bad, it's just that too much increases the risk of blood pressure. Salt causes water retention, which leads to an increased blood volume. Because there is more blood than usual pumping throughout your body, you get a higher blood pressure overall. Unfortunately many of today's foods are loaded with too much salt.

Salt is not bad for you, per sec. Like anything else, it can be overdone. You can get sick and even die from drinking too much water at once, but you need water to live. Too much salt can have bad consequenses for your body, but you need some. A lot of people over use salt in their food. You can also get salt in a lot of pre-processed and packaged foods. Fast foods can have a lot of salt. The salt adds taste to these types of food.
Excess salt can help kill you. It can cause hypertension and heart attacks. The link below leads to a very informative article.

Why would I flame you? Your perception of lots of Christians are bad, I'm sorry you have been flamed by some "Christians" in the past but I won't do that =) So there are many people who do wrong things that they believe to be right. That was how it was for the Christians and the Native Americans. The Christians of that time didn't really have to knowledge or understanding as we did. Also, keep in mind that the laws of society and right vs. wrong was very very different from it is now. I am ashamed of my ancestors for doing that to the Native Americans. First evolution means that one being is changing to a complete other being. There is no proof of that in modern times. There is proof that a species adapts different characteristics in order to survive. This is called adaptation and most Christians do not dispute adaptation. Both sides are closed minded to other's beliefs, that will never change. Scientific "evidence" has never pointed me in another direction. I have studied and taken the same classes as you have, but I still see no evidence. With the Begotten subject, that is something that no human can ever wrap their brains around. It is the same in that humans can not imagine that space goes on and on and on and has no end. However, people do not dispute that. Well for one the Bible could not possibly have been written by one man at one time. Studies have shown that the bible is different books that range over years and years of time, yet the story remains the same. The only answer I have for your questions in this paragraph is: Faith. You either have it or you don't and I just do. It's as simple as that. I hope I helped. =)

Salt is NOT BAD for you if your blood pressure is ok. YOU MUST HAVE SALT to maintain the cells. Too much salt in someone who has high blood pressure makes the vessel walls less elastic increasing blood pressure. In people who have problems with fluid retention (swelling in legs or feet - associated with congestive heart or pulmonary problems) salt increases water retention. FOR A HEALTHY PERSON, SALT IS FINE and is needed.

I heard that it's bad for your cholestrol levels, eyesight, weight etc. You have just basically trained your taste buds to find everything you eat saltless. I"m guessing it has become habit for you to add salt to everything you eat when the salt would have already been fine because that's what you put in food when you're cooking it. Doesn't make sense to add more. Try cutting it for two weeks (the time it takes for taste buds to adjust) and then you'll see the difference. You might notice other improvements like improved skin quality and other aspects of your life. It's not healthy to ingest too much or above average salt, so try what I told you and you should be fine. Good Luck.

your body needs the chemicals in salt to perform many functions in your brain and body... so the quick answer is it depends on the quantity. Too much salt in your diet has been shown to affect changes in your body that increase your blood pressure... which has a cascading effect of harming various organs, hardening arteries, etc..

Sodium is a mineral and your body needs to maintain a certain level to function properly. Too much of anything can upset that balance. It comes out in different ways. Too much betakarotene turns your skin orange, too much salt causes you to swell up, too much calcium can lead to kidney stones and so on and so on.

I think it makes you retain water which could squeeze your vessels making it hard for your blood to circulate. You get enough salt from processed foods to eliminate salting anything yourself.
