No, if you believe in one god you are being blasphemous to every other god you don't believe in. Therefore if it were a law, the only legal solution would have to be to abolish all religion...

Blasphemy is already a crime, and has been for a few millenniums plus. The laws curtailing this crime have not been enforced for centuries, and when it was? Well the history books show a very poor understanding of Love as God has taught it. The ones who did enforce the law were rabid in their zeal, the ones who broke this law were punished without mercy, nor real love.
It is still a crime....no need to enforce it because these days it would be impossible to do it right as it was centuries ago.
Wait............God will take care of it.

In God's law book it is. It is forgivable if you don't blaspheme the Holy Ghost. Jesus Himself, who removed the curse of the law was Himself falsely accused of blasphemy for saying He was the Christ the Son of the living God. They broke their laws many times over to convict an innocent man to death. When he removed the curse, people no longer died under the law with two or three witnesses but He said "Go and sin no more". The Word tells us "29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" Hebrews 10, Holy Bible KJV In other words, we are even more accountable under grace than under the law. It's just delayed sometimes if you will but ultimately God issues justice. It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment. I think that is God's duty to judge it and to forgive it whether in this world or the one to come.

God says that blasphemers and mockers will have their part opposite the good place called heaven. Descriptions of their punishment include "where the word dieth not and the fire is not quenched", "the second death", "the smoke of their torments ascendeth forever", and so forth.

Any time a religion wants to make their religious laws into civil laws I have to question just how sure the are of themselves and their doctrine. It seems to me that if ones god says that this or that behavior is sinful and will subject the wrongdoer to punishment in the afterlife then that should be the end of it. Let God deal with it. To insist that a law be enacted and punishments be meted out here in this lifetime is itself an admission of doubt. "Maybe God won't really punish the sinner; we better get him now."

It shouldn't be a crime. Blasphemy is a defense mechanism created by religion used when people get too close to proving that their full of sh-t. They know all the little tricks.

That would depend on the severity of the blasphemy and who you happen to "blaspheme". If you are speaking of God, to which God are you speaking and would he really care???...or is that "holy rule" just another way religious leaders keep the lowly men in check? I say it is.
If you are blaspheming against...lets say... George Bush...or any other idiot in American politics the freedom of speech we enjoy in this country protects us. Thank God. (respectfully said)
I say blaspheme all you want and if someone is offended they can let you know in whatever way they feel is appropriate... God damn it..

No. The U.S. was founded on the basis of religious freedom and freedom of speech. Therefore, even as a christian, I feel that people have the right to say what they want.
If you believe in God, you believe that blasphemers will be dealt with in the afterlife.

Blasphemy should never be a crime because then you'd be forcing your religious beliefs onto others. AND THAT IS WRONG! YES WRONG!

Whoever wilfully blasphemes the holy name of God by denying, cursing or contumeliously reproaching God, His creation, government or final judging of the world, or by cursing or contumeliously reproaching Jesus Christ or the Holy Ghost, or by cursing or contumeliously reproaching or exposing to contempt and ridicule, the holy word of God contained in the holy scriptures shall be punished by imprisonment in jail for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars, and may also be bound to good behavior. - Chapter 272, Section 36, The General Laws of Massachusetts

(This is not a personal endorsement ... just pointing out a fact.)
