I had an Epidural Steroid Injection between T 7-8 on Friday morning. I was in a car accident (guy ran a red light hit me at 50 mph) and so I now have a disc protrusion there. Did the therapy, time, etc. Finally doctor said to do this shot. The procedure was a lot longer than I thought and many more needles than I was told. About 8 min and 10 - 12 needle pokes. Was in very bad back pain all weekend. Went to work Mon. and after 2 1/2 hrs had to go home. Later Mon. evening it started to hurt below my ribcage (not below as in my abdomin). It felt bruised and almost like I did 1,000 sit ups only that pain was in the wrong area and I did no sit ups. Went to the doc. this morning, said it effected nerves and that is very painful. Anyone else heard or had anything like this. I feel like a horse kicked me it's SO tender and sore. They said it should go away in 1 - 2 weeks. I just forgot to ask why or how this could have happend, did they mess up somehow?

Anytime the docs go into your back there is always the risk of hitting a nerve, they should have told you. There are pain relievers that target nerve pain. Try heat (low temp.) it worked for my nerve pain, I get nerve pain from time to time over my ribs & use a perscription anti -inflamitory. I too have low back pain (years & years)

Yes, it happens. I have a herniated disk at t7-8 and a compression fracture at t9-10 and have had 3 epidural steriod injections (esi) and one facet spinal injection. On my 2nd ESI, I woke up feeling like I was hit in the side by a baseball bat. Oddly, the Drs office called me to "check on me". I told them about my pain and they confessed to hitting another nerve while giving me the injections. Eventually, the pain from that goes away. But it is very painful for a while.

Could be a steroid exacerbation. It will probalbly settle down in 1-2 days and then you should start feeling better

i just had a epidural on the 18th for my lower back...my back was very stiff for several days after with almost all the stiffness subsiding by the 7th day...i was told it was normal by my dr
i hope it works out for you, it did nothing for me

That does not sound like my epidural experience. Sounds like something didn't go as planned.
