Theres a couple of ways.
First look in your start menu, under programs of course and you'll see "Startup" delete the shortcuts from the group that you don't want.
Second way, right click on all those pesky programs and look for their options if they have them. Turn off or uncheck them if it says load with Windows start.
Third way, go to your run menu and type in MSCONFIG When it loads up look at the last tab, it is the start up options; just turn off whatever you like, except for task manager, DO NOT TURN OFF task manager.

Try this: Click on Start, then Run, then type 'msconfig' without the quotes. Then, choose the 'Startup' Tab and uncheck all the programs you don't want to start at boot.
WARNING: Unchecking a program like your virus scanning software or firewall software might expose your system to a virus, spyware or attack from the internet, so BE CAREFUL and KNOW WHICH PROGRAMS YOU'RE DISABLING!!

Click Start
Click Run
Type msconfig and click enter
Select the Startup tab.
Uncheck the items you don't want starting, and click the apply or OK button.
You'll probably have to restart your computer.
When you restart, a message will appear telling you that your computer's startup profile has changed, and if you want it back the way it was, you can reset it easily. You'll continue to see that message until you decide you like things the way they are, and select the "shutup already" option.

A program can be started automatically at bootup if a shortcut to the program is in your Startup folder (which is inside of your Start Menu folder).
Older programs might still install themselves in your WIN.INI file (on the same line that starts with "LOAD="). Use Notepad to edit this file.
Some drivers can also display errant messages, and are loaded from your Registry (do a search to find them) and in your SYSTEM.INI file (use Notepad to edit this file).
Also, programs may specified in your Registry, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run.
Programs notorious for putting things in these places include backup utilities that automatically load their useless scheduler programs, and the software that comes with older versions of Micrsoft mice and keyboards.

Click START
Select RUN
Type "msconfig" without the quotes
Hit ENTER
Click the STARTUP tab at the top
Uncheck anything you feel is unneccessary when booting up.
Dont worry, you wont screw anything up even if you UNCHECK everything.
Click OK and do a REBOOT
When it starts up, you might get a message. Just put a checkmark in the box and lick OK

Start/All Programs/Startup/ Click delete on the programs u wish not to use on boot, this will not delete the program, just delete it from the start up list! the Startup folder is usually displayed as a folder, with a setting box by it for the icon, or in otherwords, the same icon as accessories, it should be right under it!
