Have you ever seen one of the Snicker Bar commercials? "Not Going Anywhere?" Seems we have nothing better to do so we just get to it. And you have to admit, sometimes you get the best laugh in the world on here.

Well yes, on many levels it is rather pointless and silly. They believe what they do, and we know what we do, and there is a fundamental mind shift that has to happen to convert to the other side.
However, I think the reason that the debate seems to have heated up and become much more public is because we atheists are actually a lot more common than people realized. And we are mad as hell and no longer going to sit idly by while people who engage in magical thinking like telepathically communicating with a deity (prayer) have access to weapons of mass destruction. I'm talking about both the leaders of Iran and the USA. Religious belief has been responsible for far more evil than good over its bloody history.
This is the 21st century, and bronze age gods have outlived their usefulleness, as did the Greek pantheon before them. We must mature and rid ourselves of these primiitve superstitions if we are to survive as a species.
I think this is actually a watershed moment in history. The debate has never been so public before. There is no need to be deferential to religious beliefs, they don't get special treatment out of "respect" anymore. We don't have to be genteel and bite our tongues when a religious person says something appalling. We have erudite defenders of rationalism like Sam Harris, Michael Shermer, James Randi, Penn&Teller, Richard Dawkins and others getting the word out.

definite, you're good that metaphysics is at the instant previous the realm of technology and logic... yet no longer previous the realm of direct very own journey. You asked many questions, yet as to the which skill of existence, that still calls for a private perception and methods of understanding which go beyond logic. I even have some recommendations on the subject yet i be attentive to that purely telling them to somebody does no longer something to cajole them. What ought to be executed is to help yet another man or woman to have the forms of direct very own reports which will enable them to work out for themselves. only in that way will they arrive to rather be attentive to for specific. that's an prolonged highway and it could take some years. this isn't any longer the form of subject that occurs from asking people on yahoo solutions. you will ought to do greater study and in keeping with risk get somewhat help from somebody who's farthur alongside the line.

It's a matter of religion. And people don't like other people telling them something besides what they believe. So they try to prove each other wrong.

Religion has the ability to sway political, ideological, legal and financial aspects of society. Supernatural beliefs have no place in the classroom, the courtroom, or the Capitol. They belong in church, so until they stay there, atheists have a job to do.

Atheists can conclusively demonstrate their side. It's just that the theists don't like the evidence.
