There's something somewhat similar being made. The creator of The Sims is working on a game called Spore where you guide the evolution of a species from an amoeba to intelligent, interstellar beings. Sounds like fun, huh?

greatest idea....have u seen the new "Christian" game? I forget what it is called, but basically the point of the game is to convert people, and if they refuse, you have to kill them.
(I know it sounds strange, but I SWEAR I am not making it up)
