I've attended races for more than fifty years. There is a phenomenon that I have witnessed and cannot explain. A young and coming up driver sparks every ones interest. People say "He'll be big some day". Then he wins his first race and he's everyone's sweetheart, everyone cheers him. He wins some more and people say "I told you so" and cheer him some more. He keeps on winning but now you start to hear some boos. As he continues on his winning ways the booing increases. Eventually the driver that was everyone's darling is now some people's villain. I have no explanation as to why a driver goes from hero to zero just because he wins a few races. One of the nicest, gentlemanly, go out of his way to lend you a hand guy was a now retired driver from the Detroit area by the name of Joy Fair. This is one of the nicest fellows you would ever want to meet. But when the driver introductions were made he would receive boos just because he would win a lot. I guess that people just want something to complain about.

I'm a Tony Stewart fan and always have been, even when he was being a big hot head. Back when he was showing his butt a lot is when he started getting disliked, but I'm not a fair weather fan so I stuck with him through all that. People remember those things and it turns some people off, I understand that.

I still don't like Jeff Gordon because he's such a cry baby. He can dish it out but can't take it. People like who they like and there's not always a rhyme or reason for it.

The only one out of there that I do not like is Jeffy Popoo, why because he is a cheater! He cannot win the right way ever....the rest listed could win fairly...I know you will say Dale Sr. did not, but in my book he gave out what was given to him.

People choose who they like. The same as they do with baseball, basketball, wrestling, boxing, and even football. Poor Saints :o(
We just choose who we like and stick with it.

If some one is passionate about their favorite driver, they will naturally hate one that consitently beats him.
