Has anyone ever called one? I'm pretty desperate right now, but if the call lands me in a hospital or a padded cell then I'll skip it.

A friend once told me a long time ago, when I was a teen, something simple, but effective. He said, "I figure I can always kill myself, but once I do, I can't undo it." Sometimes, just knowing the option that you can eliminate yourself can make you feel better--there is some relief in your hands. It kind of gives you the motivation to make the most of whatever time you want to have. So, let's say you really want to die but you decide you want to visit a forest first. Give yourself those days to do that thing and then reevaluate your decision afterwards.

I never called a suicide hotline because it has on obvious bias to prevent it. I didn't need that. If that's what you want, I'm sure there are some you can find readily.

If you are having thoughts of suicide, then you either need to call a hotline and talk to somebody or go to your nearest hospital emergency room. There IS help out there, you just need to ask for it, don't expect the people around you to read your mind or know how much pain you are in. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, ask for help!!
