I was planning to buy a chi flat iron... but they're expensive... And I was at the store and I saw a 1" flat iron for $15. Would it work? I don't want my hair ending up ruined. I think it was a ceramic iron as well.

(edit... my hair is thick, short, and mostly straight, but it annoys me because my hair's usually poofy, or wavy at the ends. That's why I'm planning to use a straightener. =])

WELL WHEN YOU WANT TO BUY A STRAIGHTENING IRON BUY THE CERAMIC ONES...
I BOUGHT ONE FOR $20 AND IT WORKS REALLY GOOD....
I THOUGHT THAT THE SMALLER ONE WORKS BETTER FOR ME....
ITS ALL UP TO YOU....

I have a V Sassoon it has ceramic plate that is gold. It cost $29.99 best one and I have thick curly hair.
I also use John Frieda start with the straight shampoo & conditioner then the hair serum then they also have a spray & cream by the time I am done stick straight hair that if I don't get it wet last a week. I bought that one you are talking about it was a waste of money! Lost $99.00 and it is under the sink used it once!

well i have a chi iron that is $120 and trust me, i think its worth the price because over the months i have kept trying to be stragitheners starting from $20 and its not working. so CHI is a good brand. i mean just buy it, it doesnt matter about the price because if you use it often, its worth it. and also no, $15 probably means it will last for maybe...2 weeks? nice try for tying to save money, but if you want an effiecent hair straightener get something that is acutally worth the money!

this is the one you need if your hair is poofy because 1" straightens better and ceramic gets hotter. The hotter the smoother. Just use a heat protector first to keep away some of the damage.

I have thick thick hair and I tried all sorts of expensive ones, I finally bought a cheap Conair one and its the freaking BEST one I have ever used!!

It came with two attchments, one I always use its teeth like a brush and it helps, no pulling or anything.

As long as you use good conditioner, it should be ok. Anything that uses heat to style your hair does damage. You should use an oil treatment once a month to repair and strengthen your hair.

i have a cheapie one and its not worth it to buy. if you plan to use it alot and it will get some good use out of it.then buy a good one.there not to badly priced now,...they have gone down in price. Mine too is ceramic..but its talks a few pulls on a strand of hair to get it super straight and therefore pulls on my hair. ouch
