do you stress on the "s" or "th" ?

do not over-pronounce the s (which will end up vocalising more like the letter Zed). Focus more on the pronunciation of the TH , but I would not say stress, exactly, because both of these words are one syllable each and should be said with equal force, unless put into a sentance where normally the word "that" would be said with more emphasis in order to state a question.

S, like what a snake makes, but short.

Stress on the TH. Put your tongue under the front of your teeth and lightly blow around it to produce TH.

depends on the situation. If it is informal with your friends (more street talk) it sounds like wa-zat. Where as if you were doing a presentation or at work, it whould be pronouces wa(s) THat. Stressing the "TH"

Depends on it's use in a sentence.

Accent on "was" if the intention is clarifying if something was, or wasn't.

Accent on "that" if you're clarifying which "that" it is.
