Do monastaries still exist?

Several different denominations of Christianity (Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Coptic) have monasteries. They also exist in several branches of Buddhism and Hinduism. Many if not all of the same churches have convents as well.

Yes....there are monasteries for men and there are monasteries for women. there are also priories for men and priories for women -- priories use a different type of government for the community.
