An old man lives across the road from us and he is continuly complaining to council about our barking dogs even though they dont bark at all. One time he complained when we were on holidays with the pups! He approaches us quite agressively and writes us firm letters. He has threatened to poison our cats and set traps to kill them. When we go to the supermarket to get food, strangers come up to us and say, "oh you are the people the live across the road from stan with the barking dogs" - its so embarrassing! He is maintaining constant surveillance on us and our house and we he cant see us he moves so he can!!!! I am having nightmares where i wake up in a sweat over barking dogs and we keep our curtains, doors and windows closed at all times. We check the mail once a week and I have jumped a few times when the letter man had delivered our mail, thinking its neighbour giving us another letter. I have increased asthma attacks and my blood pressure was 170 over 116 the other day!! HELP!!

Our dogs honestly dont bark as much as he makes out! Most of the time they are inside!!!! This guy is too old to know what a video camera is, little lone work one of them!!!!!! We have just bought the house 6 months ago and had his trouble for 3 months! We have thought of moving but why should we!!!!! We are entitled to live where ever we want without being harrassed!!!! I am affraid that by going to the police, they will laugh at our story as neighbour feud and do nothing!!!! I have kept and documented everything!! I ahve surveyed neighbours and they have had trouble also!

listen he is being a stalker and yes the police can and should do something about it . If it gets to be too much get on the loud speaker at your grocery store and holler out yes we are the people with the barking dogs and the we are tired of being stalked . My cousin did this at her local market and people left her alone finally . Maybe if you act crazy this old man will leave you alone . Everytime you see him watching you holler at him and look at him and ask him what he is looking at . I would be so tired of this . And you will feel your blood pressure going down not up . I guarantee you this will work . good luck and I hope I helped .

File a complaint with the police in the least. Tell them this man is making threats against your family. Also let them know about the surveilance. If the police do not follow up on this, keep your pets close to you, inside preferably, and monitor him. You could point your own camera at him. Show the police once you have evidence of this stalking and harrassing behaviour. You can also file a restraining order that asks that he has no contact with you or your property or animals. Even if he is your neighbor his behaviour is extreme and definetely scary. The threats on you and your pets should be able to constitute a restraining order. Good luck and I hope you get this freaked out dude off your back soon.

I'd put up my own surveillance cameras so I'd have absolute proof of the dogs actions.
Get to the Dr. and get that blood pressure checked and documented and find an attorney because this is harrassment.
I also have survellance cameras on me from the neighbor and have tried to fight to have them moved. She had one aimed into our window. And another aimed so she could see over our privacy fenced back-yard and the last captures our entire front yard.
All you can nail the man on is if he's got audio hooked up so he can hear your conversations as that breaks the eavesdropping laws.
Like you my husbands blood-pressure has skyrocketed. But we'll live here till the day we die out of spite.
Stop being embarrassed when you're confronted by people he's talked to badly about you.Just tell them "Yes,we're the unfortunate ones who live across from that nut"Then explain to them how he's made your life hell.
Keep your cats in the yard.It can be done.Buy harnesses for them and tie them up if you have to.
From the time mine were little I've kept them in the yard loose. The longer you leave them out the farther they'll roam so I don't leave them out long. And everytime I catch them close to the fence they get swatted and shooed back in the house. My neighbor is Chinese and owns a restaurant.I don't believe in abusing any animal but I'd rather be harsh on the cats than see them on tomorrows menu.

Talk to a lawyer. Keep all the letters and stuff that he send you. You may be able to get an order of protection against the man and may be able to sue him for harassment too. Just make sure that you document everything. If you are renting your home, I would think about moving. It sounds like this guy has some kind of mental problem.

He's definitely harassing you. I would contact the police, with proof that he made a false claim about your dogs barking when they were away with you on vacation. Barking dog complaints tend to go in favor of the complainer, rather than the dog owner, so if you can prove that he's made a false claim, you'll have a better standing.

Let a video camera run 24/7 and make ole Stan provide dates and times, which you can back up with recorded proof. Otherwise, Have ole Stan "slip and fall". Or, make sure ole Stan "has an accident", and is maybe "eaten by dogs".

I know what i would do and it wouldnt be pretty. That old man would regret it for his last few years. I'd mess him up bad.
Other than that, if he is writing you threatening letters or making threatening statements to you, record what he is saying and take it to the police. Get an attorney. Dont take his crap, put his *** in his place.

first let me ask one thing, are your dogs creating a problem? if they are forget it and prey he doesn't sew you for creating a disturbance!
if on the other hand your dogs are not barking, remember this.... video cameras are a wonderful thing. (if your dogs are barkers, he may be video taping your dogs,)
tape him harassing you, document people that will testify for you in court about what he is saying to your neighbors.
here is a story, a friend of mine bought two big dogs. when she bought them they had been surgically altered so that barking was impossible. she had a neighbor like yours. she won quite the nice court settlement along with a restraining order!!!

Yeha I think you can consider that as harrasment but I don't know how u can proceed in that case because I don't live in the US and I don;t know ur laws but maybe u could get a restriction order so he can't come near u or uy family, good luck.

I would do what just about everyone above me has said but to add, can you call your local news and maybe have them do a story on it? Everyone would be on your side I'm sure once they hear what all your going through and that he is threatening animals!
