When they develop a sermon or video and sell it instead of giving away free information. I know that they need money to keep their ministry going, but I am reluctant to give money for a product that I don't know anything about. Shouldn't they supply some free information to show that their product is worthy. Then after they recover the costs shouldn't they supply it for free?

Im not asking about Church pasters that take offerings, I understand that need. I am talking about the ones on the internet that make tapes and videos about certain topics. Most of them dont supply any information about the product only generic information about the subject

Jeremiah 26...32:
"How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?"..."They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least..."
These people who use the church in the name of money and sinful acts are immoral and the one who represents the other side of coin awaits their souls for their wickedness!

Preachers run a business like any other business.
Preachers, Psychics, Fortune tellers all feed on ppl's fear of the unknown.
They sell you a nice story because they know ppl will pay BIG CASH for a little hope...
They all mess up like anyone else because they are not special, "not servants of god" plain and simple humans in the Faith selling business...
Jesus said sell all your things, give up all you riches...but I see all these "Super Church's" with thousands of members all giving them money. Millions of dollars, pastors living like super stars...
wow I should start a Church!!!
The point is it's a Business...don't give them your hard earned money...they have enough...
-Kill your GOD
Amen

Go to a church for a while and don't support it.
Check it out for 3 months and see if it's a worthwhile product that you are listening to each week. Check it out further and go to the mid-week studies too. It's God that gives pastors to the church, so it's His plan, not necessarily the pastors'.
But, based upon the scriptures, muzzling the ox does nothing but hurt the one whom the ox serves.
Tithing is something that you do from the heart, and in obedience to God. Tithing is another way to worship God. Your lack of tithing reveals that it's you that has financial trouble, not the church.

I totally agree with blackmule, being a preacher isn't the same as a movie star, singer, or writer. they should trust God for their funding being willing to live on little. However most of them are much more wealthy than the average working person. This is evidence of a big problem. It should be the other way around.

Some are and you need to be wise. The majority are very moral. The monies they receive are used to pay the pastors salary. Pastor's need to eat too and support there families. It goes to support the Church building and to help outreach to the community in need. Most do provide free pamphlets and info. The majority of Pastors are not on TV, they are in our neighbourhoods and serving their communities.

I understand the need to replenish for supplies, audio CD, tapes, books, etc. I have no problem.
The only critique I have is when some use a promotion gimmick to ask for donations when Jesus told his disciples "freely you receive, freely give."
EX.:
a person says about the seven ways to improve your prosperity through the Bible. A donation of $xx and I will send you the book.
Sorry, I can't accept that.

I don't think it's any more immoral for a preacher to profit from their intellectual property than it is for a writer, songwriter, or filmmaker. They need to eat, too. Besides, many ministries will give you free pamphlets, books, Bibles, etc.

preachers who sleep around with prostitutes or children and steal money from their congregations are immoral.
preachers who brainwash his flock with messages of hate and bigotry are immoral.
making a profit off of sermon tapes and video is not immoral. it is called making a living.

The Bible says, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn". Preachers deserve to be supported for the work they do. They have to live also. And from what I see, they supply plenty of free info to those that don't support them.
