I have an almost 5 month old male standard poodle puppy. I also have a 2 year old female in heat. It seems unlikely he can get her pregnant, though he is more than willing... Is it possible?
He was purchased to be a breeding stud for this female, so please don't suggest getting him fixed... :)

the puppy has to be at least 8 month old for it be a reg. father of a litter by AKC rules. the male can breed a female by the age of 6 mo.

First of all...if you don't know the answer to that question you should REALLY do some more research before breeding your dog.
Anyway, yes it's possible he can get her pregnant, but at this point in time you should probably wait. At his age it's a little too early to be able to see possible genetic problems, like hip and elbow problem commenly seen on dogs like Labs and Poodles. He might also have underdeveloped sperm which if he does happen to impregnate your female might result in deformed puppies.

He could father a litter now, but I do not recommend it because he is too young to be health tested. I have seen males father litters at 4 months, but many do not become good studs until 15 months. I would keep him away from her just in case.

Ah, that is a no...diverse genetic make up and such. Wouldnt have the flexibility to strengthen. And canines hump issues to teach dominance and could now and lower back ensue as a results of having neutered too overdue. They basically "detect they're a boy" and hump issues. yet you dont have something to rigidity approximately.

If hes willing than hes ready. He may not know what to do but he will figure it out. And yes he can get her pregnant. My neighbors dog was 5 months old and he got his girlfriends dog pregnant.

He may be able to now, but I would think the earliest would be 6 months... but it sounds like he is pretty close to that... if he has dropped, then he probably can.
