I am looking to buy a new vehicle this fall and I'm not sure which vehicle usually lasts the longest and is better overall. I really like the Buick Redezvous and my grandmother has an older one, it drove well. I also like the Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee, and the Chrysler Pacifica. Any other ideas?

Buicks are very solid and reliable cars, the most reliable GM makes. If you have your heart set on it, go for it.

If you are wanting that vehicle to last forever and seems to never tear up, you need to get a Honda, or maybe a Toyota. If I had to get a domestic vehicle it would be a Chevrolet or a Ford, Buick, Jeep, and Chrysler are the worst. I will not even buy a Honda or Toyota unless I know it was assembled in Japan, (get certificate of origin, or look at the VIN number to know for sure) The ones built overseas are produced by a much smarter breed of laborer than anything we have here., thats why they never break down. Honda is always about 10 or 15 years ahead of our technology. All the US manufacturers do is try to copy thier good ideas, and they are not very good at doing that. Honda has eliminated the cam on an engine, and is very close to eliminating the starter if they haven't already. Whereas some American car makers are beginning to put the starter inside the engine, want to pay a mechanic to remove your motor if the starter goes bad? The Honda may cost more, but you will have absolutley no breakdowns or repair cost later on, saving money in the long run.

I wouldn't recommend the Rendevous based on looks. I guess it really depends on your age.

The Jeep Compass is significantly smaller than the Cherokee or Pacifica. The Compass is the Jeep version of the Dodge Caliber.

I recommend the Ford Edge if you're looking for a medium size cross over vehicle. It's got a bolder more contemporary design and built with Mazda's engineering expertise.

Stay away from anything from Chrysler Corp. Their resale is the pits. Incidence of repair is very high. The very best choice is a Chevrolet Trailblazer. They ride as well as any full size car. Try one you'll see.

I'm a Honda/Acura person myself...for over 20 yrs....have I had other makes..yes 3 Fords. ( there is a reason they're called
'found on the road dead') Chrysler has sucked since the 70's.
GM...wellllll...lets say I haven't seen one yet that the engine didn't start burning oil after 50,000....

definite, I actual have. My honda became into named Mr. Redd and my present day automobile is named Knight Rider. 1st became into actual and became into according to what it became into. the 2nd became into tailor made and is according to what it fairly is finished. the subsequent one would be Knight Rider Jr. youthful and quicker... the two vehicles have been stable to me apart from the Mr. Redd's final days, the tps & the wires grew to alter into defective and it became right into a real worry attempting to get it fastened---so Mr. Redd had to retire :-( even nonetheless, Knight Rider remains going solid.
