no, your cleaning products. You dont want these mixed with your food. The first thing you learn at a grocery store job is to not smash bread.

Actually, it's usually candy or gum i find at the checkout or magazines i read while i'm waiting in line, but the bread is definitely after everything else. I used to bag groceries and i hated when customers sent down the eggs and bread and THEN the 2 liters of pop, gallons of milk and frozen dinners, so now i do myself and the cashiers/baggers a favor by putting the heavy stuff down first.

I put it down in front of my items as well as at the end of my items. I once had an experience where the person's items were rung up on my ticket. The cashier was new and had a hard time trying to take them off my list. The whole episode took about 10-15 to resolve with the manager, and I was short on time...I won't let that happen again.

Yes this will prevent the bread from being squashed under my other stuff and most likely the counter person will put the bread in the bag last so it doesn't get squashed in it.

you know I never thought about it, but yes it is... only because I step in front of the cart when I load up and since I always put the bread on the top part of the cart I reach for it last.

No....the thing at the bottom of my cart is. I have faith in the baggers, and I'm generally not an anal-retentive control freak
