He has all the symptoms for it except he has a good coat. I read this on the internet. He finished the new antibiotic yesterday. Today, he peed on the rug and floor right in front of us, Twice! I think he has Kidney Failure. My dad is going to try to order more antibiotic pills online.We have been to the vet about 2 times this month! The first time they thought he injested something toxic. He stayed on an IV overnight. The second time they thought he had either Prostate Cancer, an infection or a bump. She gave us antibiotic to give him for three weeks. All of sudden, he is done with the pills and the same behavior comes back for the third time. Does anyone know anything I can do for him? A special Diet, etc.? I really believe that he has Kidney Failure. Thank you for your answers!

He has had bloodwork down about four times during the times he has been there. His kidneys were uplifted. When he was on the IV overnight, the next morning, they were normal. We have spent a FORTUNE on Jack! They can't seem to find what is wrong with him. My mom said that she doesn't want to go to the vet, again and spend another $1000 to find out that he has Kidney Failure! I really just want to know if there is anything I can do to help him!

Jack was neutered before we got him, about 12 and a half years ago. They though he had Prostate Cancer but it wasn't, it was an infection. We thought this because the antibiotics worked, so we were almost positive that it was an infection.

I'm sorry, he doesn't eat Purina, he eats Pedigree.

The only way your dog will be confirmed for having kidney disease is a blood test. CREA/BUN amongst others.inc electrolyte Levels will be elevated significantly if your dog has kidney disease. You cannot diagnose your dog over the Internet as the symptoms that your dog may displaying could be in relation to many other health ailments.
Dogs i have seen with kidney failure become very skinny as they do not eat and vomit alot! and drink bucket loads.
You ha vent made it clear as what the dogs symptoms are.
Prostate cancer is generally diagnose with an internal and an xray. The Prostate is generally very enlarged as it evident on radiography. Also you would have probably noticed Heamorragia (blood), in the feces. Is your dog desexed?
Three weeks on Ab's and you dog is having no change could be a number of things, is it behaviour related of is there a chronic infection going on? What do you feed your dog? What are the other symptoms? has your vet done a full blood examination of the dog if not demand one.
There are a number of test that your vet could do to pin point the problem my suggestion is if you are not getting results with the vet you are with now then get a second opinion.
Remember be confident with your vet and sometimes you need to be patient as dogs cannot talk so it is a process of elimination.

From toxic ingestion to prostate cancer to kidney disease? I'm a little bit more than confused, need more information. Sorry to answer your question with more questions but what are the symptoms? Increased thirst and urination (frequency or amount) ? Is your dog neutered or in tact? Did your veterinary workup include urinalysis, CBC, serum chemistry analysis, radiographs, ultrasound, etc? Hospitalization and IV fluids for one night, any other drugs administered? What were the rule outs and what is the follow up care?
Just curious, have a one and a half year old female in chronic renal failure and am going through this myself, might be able to help but need to know more.

This is really tough. You know the diet changes she must make. I would try Chinese Traditional medicine, both herbs and acupuncture to get her eating again. also have her take walks to get her appetite perked up a little. I had a Samoyed that we spoiled on a trip by giving her burgers. She would not eat dog food for a very long time. It was scary. Her hair was falling out! She was only four and relatively healthy. At worst see about using a little prednesone if nothing else gets her eating. It may not be good for her kidneys, though, but, just a thought. Good luck!

My Grandparents dog did the same thing. He will pee and poop in his cage and on the floor. His coat is coming off. Our vet gave us some pills but he still does the same thing. I don't really know anything else that you can do for him. Our vet told us that our dog was slowly dieing. He is still here after one year since he was dignosed with kidney failure. I am so sorry that you have to go through the same thing as we did.

If he has kidney failure & he isn't treated properly..he will die. Kidney failure really dehydrates animals. Their kidneys stop helping his body to preserve fluid,instead they are constsanly flushing everything out....hince the deydration. It's very debilitating for him to go through that. Eventually he will stop eating b/c kidney failure makes him feel really terrible. At some point you need to decide if his quality of life is good enough. It's a hard decision to make, but letting him suffer is cruel. Change vets or concider euthanasia.

Have they done blood work? Ultrasound? He could have kidney failure, cancer of the bladder, kidney stones, tumors on his bladder or kidneys. If your vet is unwilling to go this in depth w/ your dogs treatment it is time to find a new one

i would have the vet check him again. i had a dog with Prostate trouble. we tried medicine the first time it worked for a little bit, but the problem came back again. so we had to have him neutered he live to be 11 years old. i hope that this helps you

has a blood work up been done that would tell you if he has failing kidneys or not if your vet is unable to pin point the cause i suggest a second opinion
