Absolutely. I asked my shrink this exact question. And becuase your brain (and mine too) is preoccupied and overloaded with depression, it can forget what it is supposed to be doing.

As a sufferer of depression myself, I can tell you that depression can truly cause any ailment. But I wouldn't assume it is caused by depression unless a doctor diagnoses you.

More than likely, it is the medication you are taking. Since I don't know what you are taking, I can't tell you if that is a common side effect, but I know the medication I take causes me to lack concentration and have memory loss.

Consult with your doctor. He/She will certainly know if this is indeed a side effect and should dicuss options with you.

Best of luck!

more than likely so.depression can be overwhelming to the total body and especially the immune sys that keeps you healthy.the mind is totally being absorbed by the exising problem of being depressed about any given/existing situation.the mind has to be distracted from what is depressing, behind every cloud is a blue sky, every dark night leads to a new brighter day.

Yes, Depression affects more than just your mood.... you can get body aches, short attention span, forgetfulness... etc., etc. You didn't mention your age though. Any new symptoms should be brought up to your PCP though :)

Yes. Depression has depleted my memory banks. I can't even remember what day it was when I did things. Even if it was yesterday.

I would imagine it's probably associated with the heavy drinking caused by your depression. So I guess the answer is yes.
