I have 4 and about to get another later this year. This is what I think, cause this is what I did. You can go look around at tattoo shops and get some ideas ask around. But if you want to get something with some meaning make sure that it relates to you and not becuase someone else likes and thinks it would look good. All mine have meaning to me in some way or form in my life., that is really the purpose of getting them. From a Cross to a butterfly. I hope that helps.

baileeboo. If you want a tattoo that has meaning then you have to look with yourself..... Think about the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to you and base a tattoo around that event....nothing traumatic? Then someone really close to you has passed on that you could memorialize? Maybe a pet?........Are you struggling with any secret addictions or hidden demons in your life? ...If so get them out there on your skin..hobbies, favorite sports, your heritage, a quote the means something to you.....Maybe a tattoo that has something to do with your livelyhood......Rough out in your head a rough idea of what you want and any competent artist will sit down with you and work out a final design. If the tattoo has meaning for you then you will love it all the more....good luck

if you want a tattoo to have personal meaning to you you need to come up with it yourself. Not going to be flash off the wall. Really sit and think about what means alot to you in life, whether it's family, a child, a hobby, etc. Then the tattoo will truly have meaning to you.

Design it yourself. Thats much cooler than the standard chinese symbols people get that have "meaning" to them. I designed the one on my back, and it gets GREAT raves and it feels so good to be able to tell people I designed it.

Give it a go, have an idea of what you want (ie tribal style, flowers, animals etc) then check out images on google images. Get some ideas from there and go for gold! Your tattoo artist will be able to fix it up if it isn't perfect.

Well, what is meaningful to you? What kinds of things do you like?

Its really hard for me to suggest ideas because I don't know you and usually meaningful tattoos have to come from inside you. But my suggestion is to search around on Google images, ratemyink.com and bmezine.com and look at tattoos. Gather ideas and things you like and relate them to what you are feeling and what matters to you. Never steal others tattoos but use them as inspiration.

You could always go to the tattoo parlor and browse through their selections, and it also gives you a chance to see their operation, how clean they are and the quality of their work. Here is also a great website

Here are some sites that I use when getting a new tat. You can even buy the artwork if you want too.
