Okay...first of all you have it all wrong....everything you think is yours is really your cat's...The cat just lets you use it. That is how the cat thinks anyway. But wait, that is only part of the reason. The cat also loves the smell of its human and the bed is one of the best places to absorb that smell. Also, your bed is probably a lot more comfortable than his....and a whole lot warmer. Some cats do this to keep tabs on their human also. They don't want to miss anything...and if they are lying right there next to you they can be sure to not miss a thing. You know what curiosity did to the cat... the cat has gotten wiser and found new techniques to always knowing what is going on in their human's lives. Think about it....am I not right? Did I at least make you think about it a little differently than before?

Hi. Our heaviest scent is in/on the bed. In the past, efforts were made for these 2 2 sleep in their own beds.
Many nights were spent chasing them off the bed; taking them off; trying 2 decide who 2 grab 1st since 1 ran clockwise and the other ran counterclockwise around my legs until I was tired (smile); trying to remove 1 from the bed while the other jumped on the bed as they took turns & also jumped on & off together. They'd even give each other cat codes to decide on each strategy. When I couldn't take it anymore, I'd have a good laugh & we all went to (my) bed. If they could've hi-5'd each other, they would've. I've even become a human cat sandwich from time 2 time. I guess u can say they've won! (Smile.)

It comes right down to "body heat". Cats love sun, heat etc. Even if your cat isn't sleeping against you, your body heat almost covers the bed. Also where would you rather sleep? In a bed on the floor by yourself or with another person up high also where cats love to be most! Purrrrrrrrrrrrr

The smell. Cats are comforted by their owners smell, when they lay in the bed, they are surrounded by it. Most people shower in the morning. By the end of the day are scent is pretty strong. Generally, people only change their sheets once a week and wash their blankets at once every month. (Some people never think of washing their blankets... EW!!!)
Even though you may not smell anything... your cat sure does!!
If you want to train your cat to sleep in another location, try using a used shirt in their bed. They will love it!

Cats love the warmth that their humans create. My Siamese even go under the covers with me on cold winter nights. Mine also crave company. They seldom want to sleep alone unless they are not feeling well.
Sometimes one is on my husband's pillow and the other is on my pillow. Sometimes they both sleep at the food of the bed on the blue blanet we put their for them. At other times, they have to be under the covers.

To be closer to their human. Cats are very affectionate creatures, and they enjoy physical closeness to people they love. They also like the warmth, and being up off the floor.

Becuase our beds have our scent and our cats - especially if we've had them since they were kittens - are comforted and assured by that scent - helps them sleep peacefully.
